Smile Protective Film

Hi Guys, Thought id let you know I'm getting my car covered with the protective film to prevent stone chips. The company is Ozicozi and will install a kit that covers the front bumper, mirrors, top of the bonnet, guards, top of the rear bumper and the headlights.

Cost is $550 and its custom made.

Might be worthwhile for others here..

Figure $550 is cheaper then respraying a front bumper!

The guy in Melbourne is called Terence. He owns it and runs it with his son and others. He has helped me out a couple of times now and he is very good and dedicated. The

film itself is fine, but don't expect it to protect you from any kind of chip or dent on the vast areas of the car that aren't going to be covered. (obviously)

3M is slightly, and by slightly i mean in microns, thicker. there really is nothing much between the two.

Guys, it's only a car lol. I am not going to bother with these things. I don't like the looks of it. I prefer to just respray it.

+1. If you're that worried about injury, you won't relax and enjoy the thing. It is, after all, just a car. It can always be fixed. (Almost always!)

Having said that, they obviously work. Porsche for example has it on the rear arches (the front of it) of all their cars as standard.

A few of the Lotus owners use Ozi Cozi and they have held up well at track events etc. Car comes stock with Starshield by 3M on the front rear wells arches. I have found over time (19000 km) it looks as bad as marred paint with all the stone chips to be honest. To replace it I guess would require a respray anway as it seems pretty well stuck on. I would however on hindsight have liked to get the Starshield on the front clamshell.

I wouldnt mind getting an Ozi Cozi for the 135i. Last I looked I couldnt see a kit. I would have to fit it myself as I do not live in Brisbane.

Im told its all custom made with a laser. You do not have to repaint the body, and it comes off very easily with the right know how/tools!

I'm just interested for the bumper/front of the bonnet and mirrors (over the carbon)

Yes I would be interested in a front-only kit as you are Kris. But I would have to attempt to fit it myself. $500 is cheaper than a respray that is for sure.

I'm not too sure about resprays either... unless you get a full car respray, a keen eye can pick up the difference...

You wont need resprays.. im told as long as the film is maintained it will hold its color and what not perfectly. I'm also told the underneath color is not affected...

Ill discuss more with the ozi guys shortly... I hate respraying cars, its never as good.

Thanks Kris...let us know what they say.

I found this protective film kit @ United BMW for only US$228 for 1addicts members: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...subcat1=133774

The item is a bit down the page. He has heaps of stuff for the 1 coupe at cheap prices. God Bless America!

How would this compare to the Ozi Cozi?
