Garage List
2008 BMW 135i  [0.00]
Detail Kit Suggestions for the 135i?

I am gonna be soooooo meticulous about keeping my 135i's paint sharper than showroom. I come from owning a black GTI for over 10 years and have had a pretty religious regimine, claying and waxing.
i plan on getting Sapphire Black Metallic :headbang:

I've been using decent products such as:
  • Griots Garage Clay bars
  • Blitz Grand Wax
  • Meguiar's Mirror Glaze
  • Vinylex for all interior trims
  • Lexol for all interior leather surfaces
I stay away from bad over-the-counter brands like Turtle wax etc...
I'm looking to buy a brand new detailing package.

What are you folks using these days? It doesn't have to be expensive professional detail products but I'm not looking for cheap crap that will harm the paint.

suggestions?

I'm a Zaino Fan.

For Car washing I highly recommend this-

Along with a good waffle weave microfiber drying towel.

I have almost $400 in Griots stuff incoming tomorrow. I went with all of their microfiber towels, washing equipment and of course all of the paint sealers and waxes. I bought a starter pack about a month ago and LOVED their stuff, hence I dropped the big bucks and got everything else. Very high quality stuff.

Seeing in that my 135i Vert is Jet Black, I was taking NO chances.

What do you guys think of a machine buffer vs. using plain'ol elbow grease?

Are some of these products more specific for a machine buffer?

I'm a giant fan of the stuff from http://detailersparadise.com

Their headquarters is in Denver, and when I lived there, I'd hit up their HQ retail store every few months. Their self made "Prima" brand of chemicals is just plain awesome. My paint feels like perfect glass after 2 coats of Epic.

If you're looking for an all in one kit, http://detailersparadise.com/View.as...20070405181946

As for leather, I like Leatherique. Works very well, and the leather ends up matte rather than shiny.

Oh, and definitely do yourself a favor and pick up a Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbital Buffer. I can wash, clay, and seal my car in about an hour with the buffer.

I have been using griots and really like it.. KaterA you are as bad as I am with the amount of stuff you bought:biggrin: Just use whatever you like to make you car look good.. Just did my daughters 328 and it looks great.. Was getting ready to pull the 1 out when a storm blew through.. Girl was a bit pissed when I would not move my car out of the center of the garage for hers:eyebulge:

I recently recieved 2 Griots catalogs #272, #273. So many items??? Whats the best regular wax to start with on an Alpine car? Also what would be the best Griots leather care for Coral red?
So much to pick from. But their "Ultimate Car Wash Bucket" and soap looks like a first purchase. Very nice.

I just waxed my 325Ci this past weekend with P21s. It rained tonight and the water is squirting off it. Jet Black looks great after a good wax job. P21s wheel cleaner is great also. Waxed the wheels after with an older can of Mothers I had.

But, I want to try the Griots products, especially for leather. I get their catalogs all the time as I used them for purchsing gifts for my Dad. He is a car detail junkie too.

I just bought Griots 3" and 6" random orbiters a few days ago. I like their stuff so much I am sticking with it. I've spent over $800 there in the last 3 weeks, lol. Investment for the future though. I have their orbitals, bucket, tons of griots towels <awesome btw> and of course all of their waxes and polish. Speed shine is total love.

Its called a foam gun. Go to autogeek.net, thats where I got mine. I use it with meguirars gold class car wash (purchased from wal mart) and it works fantastic. With the use of the foam gun and a sheepskin wash mit I keep my paint swirl free. Use a garden hose, no air required.
