Driver's Assistance Tech and the Existence of Comfort Plus Mode in the G07 LCI XB7

Hello all,

I have been on this forum for almost 2 years now and while I have made posts I have yet to create a thread - this would be my first. I hope I'm doing this right, haha.

I am wondering if the XB7 in G07 LCI form does, in fact, have the Comfort Plus mode. I am also wondering if there is a difference between MY2023, MY2024, and MY2025 in terms of the Comfort Plus mode being added in for one year or the other. I saw it on a YouTube video of someone driving a MY2024 with Comfort Plus on, but I haven't seen it being talked about on this forum or on the BMW press release. I have, however, seen it talked about a lot for the G07 pre-LCI XB7 so I'm wondering if the G07 LCI even has it, despite seeing it on that one video.

And, my other question is more general to the G07 LCI platform (but, more specific to iDrive 8.5 I guess): Does the driver's assistance tech have some mode to where only the ACTIVE lane keeping assist (active steering assist or whatever it's called) can be turned on and not the entire adaptive cruise control? I don't think I'm able to locate on my new 2024 iX M60, which I've only had for 3 weeks, and I was wondering if there was such a mode.

I like to brake myself to reduce brake wear and prolong its life and so I find myself using adaptive cruise control very seldom on all my cars. My 2017 Acura TLX Advance is the only one that does this and it's so relaxing on long drives for that reason only.

It would be great if I could have some input to guide my next purchase. Thanks in advance!

I just test drove a 2025 XB7 and have an order for one to be built to my specifications. I am ALMOST 100% certain that it does in fact have a Comfort Plus mode. I recall driving it for many miles in that mode and switching between Comfort and Comfort Plus. I seem to recall that there is a pretty significant difference between those two modes and I actually prefer the regular Comfort mode as opposed to Comfort Plus (it seemed a little too "floaty" to me).

RE: Drivers Assistance: Unfortunately no, you can have the adaptive cruise control by itself but not the Lane Keeping Assistant. I was very disappointed to learn that when I moved from my X3 and 530e to the X5 and now the iX, as I liked using it without the ACC. I’ve gotten used to it over the last 2 years, but still wish they would bring back the option to use them independently.

Below are photos from a MY2024 (but purchased in early 2023), and while the center console does NOT have a Comfort+ button, if you select the "comfort" button, the i-Drive will allow you to select between Comfort or Comfort+.

Personally, Comfort+ is perfect for I-8 in AZ and NM, or where the roads are straight and level, but any other situation, Comfort is about as "floaty" as we are willing to go.

Awesome! Thank you all for your guys' input and info!! I truly appreciate everyone's time in answer my questions. I'm glad my first thread ever went well. (I'm not sure why I was so nervous, haha).

I am delighted to find out that Comfort Plus is, in fact, still offered!

I am less delighted in finding out that I can't only have the active lane keeping assist on independent of the adaptive cruise control, but oh well - I kinda expected it since it isn't there on my 2020 X7 M50i (which, I am not replacing since it's a unicorn build) and didn't see it in the 3 weeks of having an '24 iX M60 with the iDrive 8.5. Also, I never knew BMW used to have it and did away with it.

I guess the fact that I may be able to turn off Idle Stop via an update on the XB7 on iDrive 8.5 may make up for the driver's assistance tech not being quite to my liking.

OP, is your second question on lane keeping assist regarding when cruise control is On, or at other times as well? My 2025 40i actively steers me back into lane when it detects/thinks that I'm veering out of the lane. This happens, for example, when I'm changing lanes without giving the indicator (because no one's around me, not because I'm a "typical BMW driver" ) or in places where lane markings change temporarily due to road work. I think it also happens when you start a lane change when a car is in your blind spot. Don't recall this exactly because I'm an excellent driver (haha!) so it rarely happens!

All of this happens even at city speeds and without cruise control being engaged. In all these cases, the lane keeping icon flashes momentarily in the instrument display.

Comfort plus is present on XB7 LCI. As far as I can tell, no difference in that setting from 2023-2025. As for active lane keep assist, it can be on without using adaptive cruise control or driver assistance plus. I have it on at all times and you can how sensitive you want it to be in idrive 8.5.

I believe the confusion here is between the Active Lane Keeping Assistant (keeps you centered, follows curves, etc), and the Lane Departure with automatic steering intervention (moves you back into the lane if you drift towards the lane lines). On the older models (G01, G30, pre-LCI 7er G11) you could turn on just the Active Lane Keeping Assistant, where it would indicate that it was tracking the lane lines, follow curves, and change lanes for you when using the blinker. With the G05 and G07, that feature was integrated into the Driving Assistant Pro, and cannot be used independently. When you turn on the Driving Assistant, there are only 2/3 options, Distance Control (adaptive cruise control only) or Assisted Driving Mode (adaptive cruise plus the active lane keeping assistant).

Unfortunately despite years of research and exploring if it could be coded, there is not a way to have the Active Lane Keeping Assistant without using the Assisted Driving Mode that I have been able to find.

My question was for when adaptive cruise control is off. I'm familiar with what you're saying with lane departure intervention (or road departure mitigation, or whatever BMW calls it), and I'm totally fine with that being on at all times as it's on at all times in all my cars (except for my '05 Odyssey).

But only on my Acura does it allow you to have the active steering assist on completely independent of the adaptive cruise control, which is what I want - and, unfortunately, won't have.

I wonder if the newer Honda and Acura products still have it.

I may eschew the addition of the XB7 and get another Odyssey, if so ... just kidding

Yes this is the correct explanation. Can’t keep track of all the acronyms with BMW. Lane departure on all the time. Lane keep assist cannot be separated from assisted driving pro.
