Coin Holder?
Since our 1ers don't come with a Coin Holder, what has everyone been doing with their change? I've been stacking mine in my 2nd cupholder (the one underneath the armrest), but I hate hearing it jiggle around when I'm zipping through corners! :headbang:
Does anyone have any solutions? Amazon sells a coin holder for about $3.00 that just holds Quarters, Dimes and Nickels, and another one that holds all four US coins, but it takes up a cup holder slot. HELP! Thanks! |

They sell this cool little peice at Target and some auto parts stores that drops into a cupholder and has spring loaded change holders. I bought one when I got my GTO because it was set up for Aussie coins and wouldn't hold US change very well. I just transferred it over to the 135, and it works great. That cupholder under the armrest is useless anyway.
This one doesn't hold pennys, so I just throw those out the window Here's a link to it. http://www.bellautomotive.com/asp/pr...s.asp?id=24067 |

For my wife's X3, I fabricated a neat coin holder from an Audi coin holder  and the X3's ashtray. I'll take pics and post here...
I wanted to do the same for my 335, but there's only 1 more year left on the lease and I didn't want to put the work in again. But I'll probably end up with a 135i next year, win which case I'll manufacture a hybrid Audi-BMW one again. In the meantime, I lined up my 335 ashtray with black self-adhesive felt ($1.99 or so at Home Depot) and simply throw the coins in there. The felt cushions them and there is virtually no more clinking sound heard with the lid closed.

I just use the ashtrays of both my current cars...it sometimes leads to the grabbing of the wrong coin...but I somehow adapt and move on haha. I don't recall the ashtray on the 1er though..if that will be a good option...gonna check out Target for that nifty lil piece that was mentioned above! Thanks! :w00t:

I had them in the ashtray, and with coins sitting on top of each other, you still hear them move back and forth in turns.
I might just buy a coin holder and throw it in the glove compartment, I plan on grabbing an EZ-Pass anyway! |

I hate things in my pocket. Plus, I don't carry change, ever. If I have change, as soon as I get to my car, it gets put there until I accumulate enough to head to a bank!
I ordered the change holder thing from Amazon, so we'll see how it turns out. |

I just run through toll booths going fast and allow the blockers to break over my awesome car. It does no damage however. The blockers break before my car hits them, because it has an awesome presence.

Btw, you can replace the ashtray with a rubber bottomed storage compartment: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...40&hg=51&fg=35
Note that you'll lose that power point though (but you'll still have one under the armrest). |

Give the part number to your local BMW Center. They should be able to get it for you.
It might take a few weeks, but they should be able to do that. |

I'm sorry to hear that. Chances are, the crackhead who did it had been arrested earlier that week and "released on his own recognizance" by one of our local bleeding heart judges.
The Police arrest them, and quite often they are back on the street later that afternoon. Even if they do eventually get sentenced, they get two days credit for evey day they spend in pre-trial, so sometimes they end up with a credit balance "in their account". Don't leave so much as a dime in plain site if you come here. Be careful where you park. And never leave packages, notebooks, cell phones etc in the car. If you do, you might as well buy a flashing neon sign. |

I got tired of putting my change in the ashtray and I hate change in my pocket, so I broke down and paid 3.99 at Pepboys and bought this POS. Yep, it's ghetto, but I never use this area for anything and I keep the arm rest down most of the time anyway. And, it's got velcro, so it's easily removeable.
