Square tires on 758I staggered wheels
Hey y'all! I'm looking to get some good all-seasons for my X7 since I'm taking a road trip to Colorado this winter. Would I be safe putting a set of 285/45R22 Pirelli Scorpion WeatherActives on the OEM 758I staggered wheels? I know mismatched tire sizes can wreak havoc with xDrive, and the width difference of 1" between front and rear wheels makes me a little nervous.

Width doesnt matter, its the diameter. And that is unaffected by the wheel width. 285/45/22 on all four corners wont cause any issues with xdrive as they are identical in diameter, but could cause issues with any warranty claima related to the drive train as, for example, the transfer case sib has checking for correct ( factory) tire sizes as one of the first steps. And they wont sit there to think about it logically.
Aside from possibly fighting a warranty claim, it wont cause any issue. You can also throw on a set of conti dws06 plus- all season but not severe snow service rated like the weatheractives. They are avail in stock sizes.

If your destination is Colorado mountains (why else would anyone come to CO in the winter?) all season tires might not be your best option. I'd buy a second set of wheels and mount snow tires. Snow tires do better on dry pavement than all seasons do on snowpack. Also check traction laws for CO and your drive-thru states to make sure you'll be in compliance in the event of snow emergencies. Drive safe - have fun!
