Who did you insure with and what did it cost?

Just doing some preliminary quote checking for the 135. The best I've seen is from NRMA - $1700.

I have 60% NCB and no claims ever, 34 yrs old, live lower north shore. Is this reasonable do you think?

Hi Harpoon..
I insured with GIO this time around..
The vert with extras has a higher insured amount than the coupe and my premium was $1450..
Like you I have the 60% NCB and took the named driver option.
I am 47 and live at Rhodes..
BMW quoted me $1950 through the underwriter (Allianz).

Kris I just went market value.
1. its a cheaper premium
2. Most policy's replace the car in the first two years if stolen or written off.
So the agreed value doesnt come into the equation..

Gee $1650 pretty good Kris - especially for an under 30 driver. Will check them out. I checked with GIO and it was going to be $1900 Zuzu. Not sure why mine would be so much more than yours. You must be a good risk

Sorry, I meant Market Value. I didn't agree on a sum, and yes you're right. Within 2 years its a replacement of the car..

harpoon: good relationship with the company, been with them for a few years and had a few cars with them.

Harpoon - I'm very similar to your demographic - 33yrs old, lower North Shore, Sydney, 60% NCB and the best quote I could find was around $1700 with NRMA.

Hey again Harpoon,
I made some prelim enquiries about a week ago. Although I haven't even taken delivery of mine I normally get a feel for the Insurance pricing beforehand anyways.
Allianz were historically always the best.
recently I tried GIO & managed to get the to match Allianz pricing. I went with them as we have wrapped all our insurances in the 1 bundle, with the 1 Co so were able to get very good pricing on my current 3 series.

I did notice though...that Commonwealth Bank were able to offer me a premium below the $1000 mark!!! I think it was $989. We have all our banking business with them too & this helped in achieving a lower premium...but I nearly fell off my chair when I got the quote...it was that good.(60% NCB 38 yo male + 37 yo girlfriend named driver)
If you guys have banking business that offers insurance also...you should give them a try.
It will save me a bucket!!!

Check out fleet insurance if you are going to package the car. I'm paying 1450 on our fleet policy.

Now that would have to be one of the best rates in Oz..
Qld has always been cheaper on Insurance rates than NSW and Vic.

About 1600 with BMW (Allianz).

Those QLD rates are just insane.

It makes no sense to me that there should be any difference between states at all. You can't tell me driving in Bris is any different to Syd or Melb. I just do not get it.

Wow I'm amazed at the range in premiums people are paying inter and intra state. Thanks everyone for the replies. Appreciate it. I will shop around a bit and see what I can sort out.

FWIW - I've just renewed my premium with BMW Insurance on my 2007 130i ....$808.00. I can't imagine the 135i will be that much more when I get it next month.

Just over 1300 with BMW. I wonder why we are different given both cars are registered inner Eastern suburb, we are both over 30. Only thing I can think of is that you have a blemish in your claim history?
