Can you order non RFTs when ordering your new car?
Guys, Just wondering if anyone here has tried to order their new car with non-RFTs? I'm guessing this may not be possible but thought I'd ask the question anyway.

Not possible, BMW would have to deliver the car with a jack and a spare - which they don't have for this car. So - your best bet is to sell the RFT's to me for $100 each - and buy some non RFT's.....

Also, when you swap the tyres over to non-runflats, do you need to let your insurance company know? Is this classified as a "modification"? :iono: |

So is anyone going to swap the runflats for regulars when they are worn out? Think I'd be temtped to roll the dice and run without a spare if performance was better.

The RFTs have improved dramatically in ride quality since their first release. The generation of RFTs on the 135i aren't so bad but I also think this is contributed to by the extra 100kg in the rear of the car compared to the hatch that I'm comparing against.
What we'll be doing when the tyres run flat is going for non-RFTs and getting one of those tyre filling packs that most M-cars have. |

I want to get wider tyres after I go through my first set; has anybody has any experience moving to a wider runflat tyre?
I'm looking at 18" 225s front and 255s rear, basically the same as the 3 series Msport. |

Interestingly on my car I went from 3yr old Pirelli Eurfios to new Bridgestone RE050As. Same size and ratings. Grip went up, but ride quality went down. Bridgestone's are noisier and give a less supple ride. Eg. I road I take to work has these speed humps that don't go the whole way across. With a car wide enough (4WD) or if taken perfectly you can go across them without having to slow down a single bit and you barely feel the bump. Well with the change to Bridgestone's I still don't have to slow down, but a definitely feel the bump! I was genuinely surprised, as everyone talks about how RFTs have improved.....
