Oh crap, I curbed it!

So I was moving the car from one car park to the other (err, that would be moving one level in my car park!) to offload something to the other car. As I was going into the basement level, I turned my head to make sure that I had secured the load properly as I took the turn. Because of that, I did not pay attention to the curb on the side and hit the wheels on it. Crap, now I have a scratched left rear wheel.

I was annoyed for literally about 5 secs, then I realised that this has made my decision easier. I have been looking for another set of wheels for the track, but I could not decide whether to use the new set for track or road. Now that I have done this, I am going to use the damaged wheel as my track wheel. The question remains, what do I get for the road? Maybe those 9 inch Ultraleggeras rears won't be so bad if I only use it for the road? Won't really rub much as I won't be pushing the car on the road. Or maybe even an 8 inch all round Ultraleggeras? I really wished there are more options out there for the 1 series.

Anyway, I am just ranting. Thanks for listening.

Considered getting Advanced Alloys or some other mob to repair it?

Could mean you could get a lighter set of track rims.

wayne, if you are lowering the car with the v2s then wouldn't you get more rubbing than with a stock setup on 9s? :iono:

No, you will get more toe in when you lower the car? I think? Not sure. Something to think about. I am not planning to lower it much btw. I hate the slammed look. But then again it can look nice with the right wheels. How's your search of wheels going Professor? Also what suspension do you think you will go with?

What do they actually do when they repair it? How much? Maybe I can also get it painted black while I am at it?

Given I am not racing but merely doing track days for fun, a set of lighter track rims is more a nicety than necessity.

i detest the slammed look too but v2 would mean no more than 30mm so you might be ok there. if you don't want to lower much go with tc kline or cross competition (yum!). i am going with bmw most likely. my car will be the "softy" version of yours since i will not track her. cattted dps and bmw suspension. wheels i am still not sure apart from the fact that i want them in black or gm.

Not sure their exact techniques, but they're the often quoted best repairer in melbourne. Expect a flawless rim repair to be ~$150-200.

Yes they can colour it.

I have had my wheels repaired by one of these mobile guys. There was some quite bad damage and now they are all flawless. I would recommend this as a cheap fix
