Meguire's

Somewhat new to detailing, anyone ever use Meguire's NXT wax, how is it? Also what are people using to dry/polish their car (microfiber, cotton, etc)...I am drying it right now with a shammy cloth and have some microfibers standing by but I wanna get the opinons of some of the more experienced members.

I used it on my wife's new accord...I used the new version though, the NXT 2. Sucked. Switched to Griot's paint sealer for her car and it worked much better.

NXT 2.0 works well. Despite what others say, for an over the counter product it does a good job at hidding swirls and giving the car a good shine. For a sealant, I don't think it last very long, so your best bet is to apply a couple coats. Its very easy to remove.

I would ditch your shammy cloth and use some good microfiber cloths to dry the car. I use the sheeting method when I dry my car now and use two of my microfiber detail towels to finish drying, then I follow with a quik detail spray. Your shammy cannot absorb any dirt particles still on the paint and could lead to swirling.

I've stopped using my waffle weave microfiber because it was actually causing swirls, not sure why, others have had great success. My recommendation with a waffle weave is to use the blot drying method.

Griot's One step sealant is $14.99 Ntx is $17.89

and you would be getting a non over the counter product with stellar results. I had posted this pic in another thread but I thought I would show what I'm talking about. Keep in mind that it's a white car and there is not as much depth as in a Darker colored car. But it look pretty damn good!!

And SCS, that car looks fricken awesome!!

I have some NXT 2.0 that used and I was happy with the results. I think I will use it up and then try the Groit's sealant...heard nothing bnut good stuff about Griot's. The NXT 2.0 looks good and last well. I used it on my Wife's SUV (first used some swirl remover and polish) and was really happy. It is going strong after 2 1/2 months and we get lots of rain up here in Vancouver!
I got some Mequires microfibre ultimate detailer towels to wax with and they are really good. I got several microfibre drying towels and they work good too. I got 4 of them and I use more of the "blotting" method and less wiping and so far it is proving swirl free.

Phiber,

Griot's Speedshine is a one-stopper. Highly recommended. I use that plus a glass cleaner after every weekend sortie through the local mountain twisties.

I like Meguiars stuff, but never have used the NXT wax. If you are new to detailing I recommend the 3 step Meguiars process. If you like the NXT wax, then just do the first 2 steps then use NXT for the wax.

Anybody use Meguiars Gold Class Leather wipes? I just bought a canister, they were on sale. I dont have my car yet. so was wondering if anyone has used them. Do you need to wipe with a clean towel after using the leather wipe method?
