128 Transmission

Is there a sport mode and standard mode for the 128 transmission?

My car seems to shift abruptly as if its in a sport mode.

Yes, tilt the shift level towards you and it will be in DS (Sport) mode.

My car feels like it has a split personality between auto and sport mode. So much more oommppphhh in sport mode. I also have paddle shifters and a performance steering wheel with the shift lights. Great fun using the paddles in sport mode with the shift lights turned on. I took an AMG SL with ease in this mode.

the step 28 engines are much peppier in sport mode, but that said, an AMG SL in DS? not to be rude or downgrade you, but we're talking about a sub 5 seconds to 60 car vs a mid 6 seconds car. either the SL wasn't trying or the driver was bad.

I'm almost always driving exclusively in DS, a lot more fun. Tho I find it VERY hard for a 128i to beat out a AMG. I'm gonna have to agree with Add1ct, it must have been a bad driver or he simply didn't care.

I think what you are noticing is throttle response. My wife's 328i is the same way: It is much more sensitive in DS than in D. Wish the manual transmission let you choose too! Mine is too D and it needs to be more DS
