Exclamation Brake Pad Warning Message

Yeah so last week, I pulled out onto a street, gave the car a lil gas and whipped the tail out, drove about 5 min more and parked the car. When I turned it on, I had a DSC warning light. Turned the car off and on again, and ever since then I get a warning message that my brake pads need to be replaced. I have been getting on the brakes but the car only has 1,500 miles on it.

Anyone else have this issue?

I don't recall you tracking the car, so I highly doubt you wore them away. My guess is a pad sensor is faulty, or not plugged in correctly. Call your dealer.

Did you mean to whip the tail out, ie have DTC turn off? If not definately take it to the dealer.

I bet its just the sensor. They can check/replace it at the dealer.

There must be something wrong with the brake pad sensor if your pads are still fine but the lights keep coming on. Check it and replace.

I had a very similar problem.

Same thing, I had a little fun in the snow, nothing major, just slid around 2-3 corners and then i stopped the car. When i started it again the brake warning light came on and stayed yellow. The traction control was also deactivated (i guess because it works in conjunction with the brakes it deactivates when it senses a problem).

I drove home like that (about an hour) and then i stopped the car, dropped off some stuff and then started the car again but now the warning is red and it shows a car on a lift on the cluster screen!!!! What the hell?

my car has about 4000miles.

is your problem fixed?

That's exactly what happened to mine. I'm taking it to the dealer.

the stability/traction control uses the brakes to control the car, so if the car is detecting a problem with the brakes, it makes sense that it would turn off DSC/DTC to not exacerbate the problem...my vote is also faulty electronics...

FYI ~ I ran in to the same issue just before I put my car in storage.

IF it's the same issue (likely) they're likely going to read your fob and it's going to state that there's something like 300,000 miles on the current pads. It's an error in the programming and I was told that a resolution was due in December. If an update has yet to be released, don't stress as all systems still function normally. Since my car is in storage, I never called for another appointment; however, I'm guessing they'll resolve your problem pretty quickly.

The other likely cause is (as stated above) an ABS/brake pad/steering angle sensor malfunction.
