Tire replacement advice
On my 2024 X7 40i with 27k miles - front has 5/32 and rear is down to 2/32.
Looking to replace all 4… Heard good things about the Yokohama Geolander Local stores in VA does not seem to have it but Tirerack does Has anyone used their mobile install - seems expensive at 240 for just install of 4 tires or can ship to MrTire and they charge 110 for all 4 Any suggestions? Thanks |

my friend got tirerack's movile service for his newly acquired porsche GTS. He was happy with the service.
I think you have to spend in the range of $200 if you dont buy tires from the installer. i recently paid $220 as they assured not a single ding on my rims |

There are many varieties of Geolanders. I have the G015 A/T 3MPSF mounted on my G550. After ~22K miles, they're at 8/32 (12/32 new). They've been a great year round tire here in CO. I get tires from Discount Tire. Never an installation fee, and free balance/rotation every 5K.

I ordered 4 Geolandars from Discount Tire in Fredericksburg Va yesterday. The rears were what were not in stock but they were available. (Mine is staggered). You may want to check with them.

which tires and what sizes? staggered is only 22 and 23 inch rims and im not seeing anything in the correct rear size on the yokohama website or tire rack. the rear 315/35/22 is a pain to find.

I was also looking for my X7 as well and I thought Continental had the DWS series in the stock M sizes. The X7 has 22’s. |

I am getting the Geolander X-CV installed on my 2020 X7 this afternoon. Ordered from Tirerack a couple weeks ago when they had a sale. They were delivered to my local tire shop on Tuesday. Will head over there after work today to get them installed. They will replace the OEM Bridgestone Alenza non-rf.

I have a 2022 x7 M50i that came with staggered 22x9.5 and 22x10.5 wheels with Michelin pilots. Since I live in the Northeast, the pilots just become skis in the winter. So it was a choice of changing tires each fall/spring or finding a set of great all seasons that work well in snow and dry that also stand up to the M50i torque.
My solution: I bought two new matching 755M Cerium grey bi color wheels 22x9.5 for the back, squaring out the setup. This enabled me to install four Michelin Cross Climate ALL-SEASON 275/40/22’s all the way around, also enabling me to rotate when needed. The Michelin Cross Climates are awesome ALL-SEASON tires. This is the third vehicle of mine that I’ve installed them on. Check the ratings out on tirerack.com. Great snow traction (3 snowflake rating), dry traction, handling, tread wear and low road noise with a cool v-shaped tread pattern. I drive pretty aggressively, but not over 100 MPH and haven’t missed the Michelin Pilots a bit. Anyone interested in 2 Cerium grey bicolor 755 rims 22x10.5 with a full set of nearly new Michelin pilots?? 2(275/40/22) and 2(315/35/22). Last edited by cshartma; 01-17-2025 at 08:44 PM.. |

no worries.
curious what option you selected in tire setting -21 square or 22 staggered. If you go 22 staggered, will that change any suspension setting as car is expecting staggered setup but you have square. i thought of going your route but stayed with staggered as DWS came up as an option. Also Orient330iNYC cautioned about transfer case issues and how hard it will be to dispose rear rims. My wife also gets really irritated when she sees extra pair of rims which are not being used. |

as long as front and rear are the same diameter (square or properly sized stagger) suspension and drivetrain dont care. i switch between 22s (staggered) and 20s (snow, squared). front-rear differences beyond a few percent are bad- the transfer case has to slip in order to keep the front and rear turning at the same speed and slipping generates heat and wear.

so hypothetically you can drive with your 22s on front and 20s on rear as long as they are same diameter overall
Definitely good coffee table for my dream detached 2 car garage (if i ever get theough planning phase) |

I did 22” squared with same 275/40/22 Michelin cross climates all around. Local BMW service center mounted, installed and aligned; said it was a great set up. All good. No driving issues or warning lights at all. I’m told not to exceed 110 mph though. (That’s prob a good thing though.) The height of the 275/40/22 are the same height as the 315/35/22 tires.
Per “WheelWillFit” app, these tires are within 0.1% of the old 315/35/22‘s that were on the rear. (I forget the offset on the 22x 10.5s, so forgive me below) And I like the idea of the coffee table for the remaining 22x10.5 inch rims. Might be good for the man cave |

I have a ‘23 40i with 21” tires and opted for the Geo’s. I live in NC and sometimes go to the mountains to ski so wanted something that was all season vs. a separate rim setup (not worth it for a couple trips/year). So far, the Geo’s have been solid, but I haven’t pushed them at all performance-wise. Also, impossible to gauge longevity at this point.

I did a bunch of research in my search for the best all season tire for the x7 that also did the best in winter,… without choosing a winter-only-tire that necessitates seasonal tire changes. I also wanted a squared non-staggered setup so I could rotate the tires year round.
that search landed me on the Michelin cross climates and not the geolander. Hopefully others can benefit from my research… here you go: First, I replaced the 22x10.5” wheels on the back and bought two wheels 22x9.5” identical to the front wheels of my x7m50i, style 755 in cerium grey. I may eventually have them all painted black. In order to maintain the same height of oem tires for the X7 in a squared non-staggered set up, you’d need four of one of the following sized tires: 265/50/20, 275/45/21, 275/40/22 Last edited by cshartma; 01-18-2025 at 07:24 PM.. |

The geolander cx isn’t three mountain peak snow rated and is available in 21 and 22” tires.
The geolander cx-4s is three mountain peak snow rated and is available in 20” but not 21 and 22” wheels. The Michelin cross climate is three mountain peak snow rated and is available in 20, 21 and 22” wheels. |
