bird poo (advice pls!)

A bird took a big dump on my car driving home last night. got home and cleaned it up but as the light was already bad, I noticed this morning when I got to work that I had missed quite a bit. white poo on a white car isn't so easy to spot!

Don't have my microfibre cloths with me...but am contemplating going and washing it and blotting with kitchen towel. Would mineral water be preferred over tap water if I can't dry it properly?

Given the acidic content of that white stuff that our feathered friends like to drop on us, it would seem like you'd be better off with water spots than leaving any other residue which could damage the paint. I guess that's a long winded way of saying rinse it off with anything you have handy short of doing something silly like scratching the paint.

^^ + 1. I've learned the hard way (on other cars) that bird sh*t and bug guts have to removed almost immediately otherwise you'll risk having the paint etched, which is almost unremovable. I keep a microfibre towel and a touch-spray (meguiars, griots etc) in little storage compartment next to the battery -- fits quite well

Your best defense is good wax. Zaino is a good barrier to have.

Thanks guys, went out and got some water...generously poured on then lightly blotted off. Will give it a proper clean when I get home tonight.

Thankfully we havnt had much of a summer and I park underground so it hasn't been baked on!

My dealer put superguard on for me which has helped make it slightly easier to keep the car looking clean.
