I have Amica with essentially full coverage and pay ~$2500 for a 128i and a 2000 crown victoria, with a clean driving record. (I think it is about $1500 for the 128i and $1000 for the crown vic.) You may want to check Progressive, since they are new to MA as of this year and I think they may be cheaper. Getting a renters/homeowners insurance at the same company can sometimes give you a discount.

I am originally from NC as well, and the rates are definitely worse up here... though $4100 seems rediculous unless you have a number of violations/accidents.

I'm with Amica and pay a combined $1900/yr for an '08 135i and an '03 Jetta (the later with replacement value riders for $45k). The 135i is $1100/yr of that total.

Both of those are insured for 100k/300k with $500 deductible and rental coverage.

I'm 30, male, and unmarried. I've had one speeding ticket in the past 5 years, in 2007 in Nevada.

Anyhow, hope that gives you an idea.

I was just quoted $780 from Arbella for the 08 135. I'll have to see what the coverages and deductible are. Moving to the 06 M3 drops it to $730.

I'm in RI which I believe has even higher insurance costs than MA but today I got a quote from Geico that was fantastic. Their online quote system is pretty easy as well.

My current policy expires at the end of the month. I didn't do any shopping around since MA companies have been able to set their own rates, and didn't do any shopping since getting the 1er.

Right now I pay about $1300/yr, I've been driving for 20 years, unmarried, and 2 speeding tickets within the window. I'm with Commerce right now, through AAA, so I get some discount there, and they were really great with the two fender benders I had in the Honda (neither our fault).

I'll let you know what I find when I go shopping in the next couple weeks.

How old are you? Do you have a clean record? If you're younger with a record, obviously your rates will be higher.

Rural MA... $790/yr with bumped limits.

Btw, bumping up the limits is fairly cheap. With any bodily injury, you can go thru that $250k/$500k in the blink of an eye.

I love Progressive. Arbella renewed my insurance and quoted me 1999.00 Progressive quoted me 1400.00 and that included an extra driver, an added jimmy truck for the winter and they doubled my bodily insurance. They saved me a 1000.00 bucks easy!

I'm at 1019/6 mo; under 25 + 1 accident + 1 speeding ticket. If I lived in a city instead of a suburban town, the prices would be insane.

Yeah, in Somerville I pay $2600/yr, under 25, with one speeding ticket.

Ouch ouch ouch! I think in the 'burbs it would be at least $800 less.

I also live in somerville. Get a quote from Progressive. You just might be surprised.

I have a question; im kind of new to MA insurance...

I have a 135 cost about 2k
Wife has a 08 focus but only passed her test in 08 so its nearly 4k

Can I insure both cars and just let her drive as a named driver?

I was not impressed by progressive at all. First, the 1 has been out for a year and they STILL don't have the 2008 135 in their computers yet so you can't get an online quote. You have to call one of their representatives and they have to do all the calculations by hand (first time I got completely incorrect numbers).

I just got a quote from them, $1522, 100/300 coverage, $500 deductables, no rental car or any extra coverage. I have just 1 ticket on my record. That's slightly more than I'm paying with Commerce with AAA discount ($1519). I live in Cambridge now so my rates dropped a tiny bit (like $50 or so) since I moved from Somerville but that's still a ton more than Amybang who doesn't live too far away. I need to move out of the city .
