Anyone brave the weather in your 1?
I parked the one the day before the snow started. We used my gf's IS250 today for errands. I have to give Lexus credit that car is great in the snow. Anyway I digress, the question is how many of you went out today and how did your 1 handle?

Totally, totally sweet - yesterday in the thick of the storm I drove out Route 2 and had a blast the whole way. You have to turn off DSC to get going from a stop in deep-ish snow, but outside of that nothing alarming. Heated mirrors and super-defrost mode make driving in the snow no big deal.
Sure makes the car filthy though. |

I spent 7 hours driving today, but I was in my truck and it was still fun. Would be nice if the town of Needham spent more than $5 on salt this year.

Totally a BLAST. I agree with Roldan completely, Get a good set of snows and it's the most fun you'll have all winter!

I drove around without snow tires. It was worrisome, turning was... interesting. But, it wasn't that bad. I did get stuck in the middle of the street, had to turn of DSC and the DTC. Then I got going. No biggie, I wasn't in a hurry or driving fast, so no way will I get into trouble going 20 mph, even on ice.

Snows are the way to go. No problems made it out shopping with no casualties. Definitely fun in the closed school parking lot.

Great response! I washed the 1 before the storm and it's just sitting in the garage nice and clean. I'm 50/50 about driving it to work tomorrow. I'll see what the roads look like in the am. I did see an AW 1 out today around 2pm in Warwick on West Shore Rd. I wonder if it is anyone on the board.

I went out a tiny bit on Saturday, slow going, but no problems. The scariest was a small bit of slipping in my driveway as I was getting going the first time. No wait, the scariest was trying to start her the first time, because she almost didn't (I think she was upset that I went away to CA for more than a week and left her behind).
We both stayed off the roads yesterday. Today the drive to work was slow and tedious. The roads were "cleared" but there was still a lot of hardpack on them. Tonight we go out and get snows and then I'll be breathing easier. amy! |

Finally went out for a little fun in the snow. Took some vid footage to show how the snows are working. All footage is with traction control off

My one is in the driveway for the winter!!
I have been using my Chevy Avalanche the last few days and thank God I have it. I tried getting the BMW out of the driveway just to clean it and it could hardly get out. Granted I have run-flats on it. I figure better be safe than sorry so the Avalanche is out for the winter and the Bimmer is in for the winter.:iono:

I just wanted to say that I'm impressed when people have enough patience to wait for the winter to pass to drive their bimmer...I can hardly wait for my car to arrive

I got the 540i sport touring with blizzaks for the winter. But no garage for the 1er poor thing looks like a big snow pile. Alpine white sure lives up to its name

I've been out several times in the snow and I just have all season on the stock 17inch wheels. It's been good so far. I'll probably get snows next year.

The car is surprisingly controllable in the snow, albeit with good snows. I am very impressed !

Drove today in my 1er. Have snows on it and it did a pretty good job. I don't think conditions could have been much worse. Went from Brockton to Revere via route 24 and the Expressway

Got prob 15" so far today, and still snowing out. Went out today, and it was treacherous, even with snows. It had probably been at least an hour since plows came through, and there was more than 6" to plow through, with no pavement remotely visible.
Party I was going to got canceled, as did my neighbor's plans. We're just going to share some champagne and snacks and stay local. |
