How wide of a tire I can put on stock rims for a 135i?

I keep getting mixed answers on how wide of a tire I can put on the stock rims front and rear. Please let me know if you are 100% sure. Just want to get some good tires for street use and don't want to risk spending money for something that will no fit. BMW's are new to me, I was able to stuff a 255 on an 8" wide rim on my STI.
Thank you all!!

335i's standard 18'' wheels:

- front 8Jx18: 225/40/18
- rear 8.5Jx18: 255/35/18

Since 135i's rims have the same width (8J front, 8.5J rear), no problem putting those dimensions on. Anything larger - someone else will have to answer.

Hope this helps.

This configurator will let you check out various combinations. The ones shown by Joey will work, they are slightly higher and wider but not by an excessive amount.

Actually the 135i has narrower rims up front: 7.5". 225 will work for sure in the front, 235 might also work depending on the actual tire - for example a runflat might not work because it has a different sidewall construction.

If you want to try 235 up front, contact Gill at Tirerack (a board sponsor) and ask him about specific tires you have in mind - he'll tell you right away what will work and what not.
