Exhaust Work in Minneapolis
Wanted to say I recently got some exhaust work done her ein Minneapolis, and I'm happy with the outcome.
There's never enough information on these forums about specific shops, so here's my experience. Tims Custom Exhaust in Coon Rapids (which is a northern suburb of Minneapolis) did the work for me. Muffler Delete, Mandrel Bends, stainless piping, and hangers are sorted well. The tips (Magnaflow 35168) completely centered in the opening. I was Charged $150 for the work, and I had brought my own tip in. A little high for just a muffler delete, but he did spend some time on it, and the work looks beautiful. Besides, you do pay a premium for Mandrel bends. No pics yet, but the 35168's look almost exactly as stock. Sound Impressions you ask? Sounds a little more opened up. There's some bass resonance at certain RPMs and large throttle openings, but only when accelerating. Constant highway speed and it's pretty hard to hear anything. It does open up when floored. There's less of the staccato and less of the burble that I got with the Z3, and alot quieter than the Z3. But probably plenty loud for a luxury sedan. |

Nice, post pics when you get a chance.
Thanks for posting all the info. You're right that there is not enough specifics, especially for the MN area.

Eh. Vids never sound anything like real life sounds.
There just isn't enough dynamic range in the miicrophones of a camera, nor enough consistency from one camera to the next, to make meaningful comparisons between different exhaust systems sounds. As far as Pictures go, I'll try to borrow my GF's camera to take a pic of the work underneath this weekend. As I'm never home before dark during the week. |
