Rode in a modded 135 tonight/drove 335d
Okay so I was at the monthly BMW CCA meeting and a new member has a modded 135. Hes got JB3, RR downpipes, and a CAI. All I have to say is DAMN! I got back in to my 335 with SSTT and it felt really slow. really cool car though, SG on Lemon. Nice combo.
Okay so then I drove a 335d and I would totally consider getting one. It only feels like a diesel at like 1100RPM and when u are standing outside of it. The power is really linear and smooth. just thought id share.

Interesting comments re the 335d. Here in Europe, the 330d facelift comes with 20 HP less but also weighs 280 lbs less and is available in 6 MT. 0-60 is 0.1 second slower than the 35d, 50-75 is 0.5 seconds faster than a 335i and it therefore feels extremely rapid on B- roads and around town, with a lovely linear power delivery. The only thing I miss is revving it out to 7Gs but the thing sounds pretty damned meaty in its own right. I was thinking about an M3 as discounts are way high right now but eventually my wallet prevailed. In all I'm not that sorry when I take it out for a 100 mile blast and use less than 1/4 of a tank.

The 2009 330d is perhaps the most brilliant BMW of the modern era.

+1, no idea how that's rude.
I also have no idea how the 335d "feels like a diesel at like 1100RPM and when u are standing outside of it." How does it feel like a diesel from the outside? Other than the urea cap, it's identical to any other LCI 3er. |

sorry let me extend my sentences. it feels like a diesel at 1100rpm. It SOUNDS like a diesel when u stand outside of it.
is that specific enough?

It's not a matter of specificity, dude, it's a matter of communicating what you're trying to say in a manner that, well, works. |

Sure! I was just quoting the brochure's 50-75 times in 4th and 5th to illustrate that the 330d is fairly nippy where you really need it. The 335i is the faster car overall, but not by that much (remarkably). Here in the UK, with our rip-off gasolene and diesel taxes, the real benefit of the diesel is performance without thirst or more accurately fun without paying through the nose for it.
