H&R springs for e92
Hey guys, I was thinking about getting the H&R springs for my e92, as well as some 15mm spacers all around. I just had a few questions about the Springs tho, because I had H&R race on my previous 08 Audi S5, and I had problems with the front 2 springs which caused something with the suspension to break. I really want to lower the car, as well as make sure I don't have problems. H&R springs look good, and are also a good price. If you guys can possibly tell me what the downside is, and what to be careful of with this setup, that would be really helpful. Thanks!

Springs alone are an affordable upgrade that "get the job done" if you want to tighten things up a bit and lower the car visually.
The downside is that they will wear your OEM shocks down faster compared to a paired spring+shock or coilover setup. This is probably what you experienced after extended use. Ultimately, it's your choice. Some people do springs only and hope for the best as they don't plan to keep the car forever. Others get springs, then get shocks later when they fail. Still others want performance AND looks, and they get coil-overs, springs+shocks (like the Eibach pro kit or H&R cupkit), or just get coils. It's your choice entirely, depending on your budget, preferences, and what you are trying to accomplish by putting on aftermarket springs! Hope this helps |

I see. I understand the springs are more for short term use, and that's what i'm looking for but the H&R's I had on my S5 wore down my shocks after like 1 month. Is that usual? I just want to make sure, so I don't have to consider paying upwards of 2k to fix the problem or have to get a new car, like I did with the S5

do you really have to worry about your shocks and struts failing with a spring upgrade? how likely is this to occur? what is the time frame we are talking?
