My car is on the Caribbean Highway! Anyone else aboard?
Hey everyone new here. Found this place while browsing for info on how to track my car. I've been trying to figure out what ship my car is on as it went to en route to prep center this afternoon online. I think it may be on the Otello, but I am not sure and I plan on calling the dealer tomorrow to confirm. I am getting a 2009 335i Coupe Black Sapphire Metallic with Coral Red/Black Dakota interior. Sport, prem, cold weather, Logic7, auto trans.
Just wondering if anyone else might be on the same boat as me, and I was also wondering the usual wait times have been from the production center recently. I've seen as low as two days and as much as 7-10 days? If my car is on the Otello it will be in Baltimore on the 14th of March. I'm amped! ANyone else get this good news today? Just checked with my dealer. Car is aboard the Caribbean Highway which is a K-Line ship. Due in Baltimore on March 10th. So I'm even more excited now! Anyone else have their car aboard this ship?

I have now found out that my car will be unloaded in Charleston on the 12th. I didn't know there was a VPC in SC...
EDIT: Did some research it appears the the ship is ahead of schedule currently and is scheduled to be in Baltimore on the 8th at 4pm in the afternoon. Last edited by Indy335iCp; 02-28-2009 at 08:22 PM.. |

I believe my 135i is on the Caribbean Highway. I was just able to find its current (or near current) position using this link:
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shi...MMSI=352218000 I'm in Washington, DC. Had I known the car would be so close today, I would have gone over to look for the ship. Good to know that it's ahead of schedule. |

Looks like the ship is just sitting there and not moving.
Maybe because its ahead of schedule?

OP, your car sounds just like mine (see sig), and that was on the Toreador that arrived in NY on 2/26. The car was released to customs on 2/27 and I'm STILL not sure if its made it through.
Hopefully you all will make it through quicker. The wait is agony! edit: heard back from my CA this morning. BMW is now telling him an ETA of 3/16. If that holds, it'll be 17 days from arrival at port to delivery at my dealership in MD (near college park). FYI, my car was a ED, so this estimate would probably be on the long side for those who ordered US delivery, since it customarily doesn't sit as long with customs.

My M3 is on that ship. Looks like it is just now docking in Baltimore. Mine has to make a trip down to Charleston, SC from there so I've got a couple more days to wait.

My car is to go to Charleston to be unloaded which should be tomorrow or Thursday, than my dealer said usually a wait of 4 days from the time the car is unloaded off the ship to the time it arrives on their lot. So I should be able to get it some time next week, unless something odd happens. |

Unloading Now
It looks like the Caribbean Highway is unloading in Charleston now. The cars need to clear customs and then will be put on a train to the VDC. If anyone hears about their car arriving at the VDC, please post an update. I'm trying to arrange a Performance Center Delivery and scheduling depends on how quickly the cars get through customs.

Yeah, it looks like it is docked, but it's not showing that it has had a port call in Charleston yet. So I don't know for sure if it is unloading yet or not.
EDIT: Just checked the port of Charleston site looks like they started unloading at 8AM. |

I thought that my car was on that ship, but it wasn't. It actually got into New York and the VIN never showed up on the WW web page. My car is supposed to arrive at the dealer this afternoon or tomorrow morning.....

Indy335iCp, have you heard any more about your car? The OC on the website still shows mine at the prep center but the automated phone system tells me it is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel.
My dealer said that it was "released to carrier". Does your dealer have a date or an idea when yours will get there? |
