How was your day?
So this morning i call my fiancé and tell her a bit of good news about an offer on a house we own. I start the convo with the usual "I got good news honey". After I'm done telling her the good news, she asks "so what's the bad news?" I guess we're all used to the good 'ol "I got good news and bad news" routine "Well" I said, "there is no bad news" "Good" she says. "talk to you later"
30 minutes pass by.. I'm driving in to my office and on the way is a hand car wash that I go to on a normal basis when I don't hand wash the car myself. So I figured, what the hey, snowed the other day, got some salt on the car, might as well run through. Keep in mind this is one of those hand washes that the track doesn't pull you on (it used to be, but they converted it to hand wash without the brushes), since my car is too low to get into those anyway, and I don't like the machines scrubbing the paint. I pull in, they hose it off, and as I'm pulling forward I feel the car's rear end drop. I see the car wash attendants' faces drop as well. I open my car door, look back, and see this: Turns out, as I was pulling forward, one of the metal panels moved with me, and my driver's side wheel fell into the drain that's under the panel. Fun. I tell them I'm not moving until the cops get here. I start snapping some pics and call the police so they can write me up a report. 45 mins later, a nice police officer shows up. Glad he was young and "into cars" so he knew exactly how serious this "could be". The car fell into the drain and was resting on the support arm. Not sure how much damage until I see under the car. Now I'm thinking, how the hell are we going to get the car out of the hole? To get a 2-ton jack under my car, I need to drive onto some wood planks since the car is dropped, and now the car is practically sitting on the ground. Well, after a little debate with the car wash attendants, I decide to try to slowly pull forward to see if I can come out of it without hearing any grinding. About 8 guys slightly support the rear and I pull forward out of the hole. Being AWD, the front wheels had traction, I was able to pull forward without doing any damage. Police officer gets me the owner's name and business license number and tells me it's a civil manner and he can't give me a police report. OK - I'll deal with the owner. Hopefully he's not a total prick and I have to take him to small claims court and doesn't hassle me for a few hundred bucks. Complimentary car wash, notice them scrambling to put the cover back on the drain. Maybe I should have gone to the "Best car wash by hand #1?" I leave the car wash, everything seems fine, and I notice that my steering wheel is not centered when I'm going straight, odd. I guess I need an alignment. I pull over and notice I have a little less air in my rear tire (on the passenger side). I get to a gas station and try to fill it with air and I see that it's not helping. Looks like when the other side went into the drain, this side punctured the tire and air is leaking out. Cool. Guess what, no spare. Awesome. I call my friend to come pick me up so I can get one of my stock wheels from my house and swap it. He says "No problem, I'm on my way." 10 minutes later I get a text, "I got a flat". Sweet. Nice and Clean I call my fiance to leave work and come get me. She's on her way. She tells me she'll be there in 15 mins. "Take your time" I say. "I'm just going to go up a block or 2 and get some coffee and lunch cause I'm hungry" I walk there, buy my tuna fish wrap and coffee, start walking back to my car, and drop 1/2 my wrap in the mud. Nice. As I lean over to see if I could salvage any of the wrap I spill my coffee on me and twist my ankle (nothing serious, but I thought it was funny to add) Think I could just patch that up? HAH! Wooohoooooo!! As I always say, "It could be worse." How was your day? |

Wow. Hopefully the only damage is the wheel and tire and none of the suspension components.
Hope it all works out for you! Must've been a crappy day.
