Winter Tires + Summer Tires OR All Season?
Whats a better value? Getting two sets of tires or just one. In terms of how much money you will end up spending in say 4 years.
I drive about 15k miles each year. Will I be better off just getting A/S tires? Lets keep this is strictly about money. It really doesn't snow here, so lets leave the safety issues out for now, plus all seasons are good enough for the conditions here. Right now A/S seems like the correct choice. |

If it doesn't snow and rain much i would do a just a Summer package all year round. That's what we SoCal guys usually do here. There are a lot of Summer tires out there that do great in rain as well.

Well it still gets cold here and snows about a week, maybe 2 out of the year.
Summer tires in really cold conditions are not going to be the best bet. |

id say if you honestly only see snow a few days a year, A/S would be your best choice. However if the temp is consistently below 45 degrees that is also one of the benefits of winters, they are made a bit "tackier" than others so they still grip in cold weather. It might not be snowing but if its 20 degrees outside and you're rolling on summers its gonna feel like you're driving with 4 slabs of freshly waxed Granite instead of tires. I'd say if you have more than 40-50 days of colder weather under 45 get the summer/winter combo but since you are in BC... my guess is the ocean keeps the temps up above that.
