Tire/Wheel warranty

I paid for the tire/wheel warranty and I have a bulge in one of my front tires. When I looked at the paperwork the warranty company was in Florida. Does every dealer use a different company?

What is the normal process for getting a tire replaced? This might actually be a blessing in disguise. I was washing and waxing my car because I'm about to take a long trip and noticed the tire. I would much rather have this happen now than for it to blow out in the middle of nowhere.

It's great you noticed this before a trip.

Read your paperwork carefully, however.

There is no such thing as a wheel and tire warranty. What you can (and probably did) purchase is insurance and some policies may not cover a bulge versus a nail in the tire.

I have it, you just take it to the dealer and they should take care of filing the claim and replacing the tire for you, or so i was told when i bought my plan.

They probably do, but this should not stop them from honoring the existing warranty.

I agree with blue2fire. I bought a tire insurance (that's probably what you got, not warranty) and it replaces the tires and wheel for any type of damage except hitting the curbs.

I'm going to make sure I'm on the horn with the service department first thing in the morning. They are 100 miles away - that sucks.

How can they tell it is bulging due to being curbed? There are no marks on the wheel and I honestly don't remember hitting a curb or anything close.

I have the same program. They replaced a tire with the bulge but they gave me a lot of shit about it, next time I will run over a nail on my way to the dealership.

I'm going to be persistent and I need to know the outcome soon. Do they stock the tires or will they have to order it?

Tire damage appears differently based on what caused it. If you know what to look for, you can tell.

If this is due to a manufacturer's defect (unlikely, btw, since most defects aren't visible), it's not covered by the insurance.

I'm asking anyone actually. I was wondering if dealerships stock tires for our cars or if they order them.

Timing is involved with my situation. I'm moving in a week and want to get this resolved before I leave, but more importantly I need to know if I'm going to have to come out of pocket for it. To make matters worse, the dealership I purchased the car from is in Florida, 100 miles away, although there is another dealership I will pass on the way there (they were jerks until I went by in my 335 to look at an X3 for the wife).

That makes me think of something else. Since I'm moving away, is my insurance still good? I don't think I'm going to drive 2,000 miles to get a new tire or wheel.

I think the dealers do have it in stock because it is OEM equipment and a part that goes wrong quite often.

What if they just sold the last one five minutes ago?

I am assuming you checked their stock with that comment. When I purchased my insurance for the tires they said it can be changed anywhere. So if you are really worried. Call em dealers and ask if they have the tires (tire model should be there written on the tire). Honestly, I think you should just go there so they can actually see it. If they were jerks before, I bet they'll be bigger jerks on the phone. They dealers should have the tires.

I think you are a little confused. Another poster said a dealership acted like jerks. I just noticed the problem with my tire today. I will call the dealership first thing in the morning and see what they say.

Go to the dealership tell them you need a new tire and you bought the wheel/tire insurance. If they have the tire in stock it should take them about 2 hours to file the insurance claim and have the tire changed for you. what dealer did you buy your car from in FL?

I called the dealership and the warranty company and ended up going to a local Bridgestone/Firestone shop. Fortunately, they had one tire in stock and it was replaced without a bunch of hassle. The tire was $306. I guess my insurance has almost paid for itself.
