Do any dealers in Chicago truly know about the lag fix?

I've been getting the runaround from Fields about the lag fix for the 335. Even though I have shown them the March 09 SIB they insist that this fix is only available if I get the clanging noise.

I currently have mar07 production with progman 31.x, and they say that if I get a software update I will get more lag.

The March 09 SIB clearly states that if we complain about turbo lag that they need to use ISTA/P 2.32.1 or higher, select "conversions" and then select "wastegate valve conversion"

They insist I will get more lag by doing this. Based on the thread in the turbo forum this is what I need to do to get my car back to normal.

Has anyone in Chicago area successfully gotten the lag fix?

I'm not quite sure if I have the lag or not.

-My car's production date is 10/06
-In May last year I went in for a HPFP replacement, and they gave me a "software update".
-Testing to see if I have it, if I floor it in 2nd at around 1500 RPMS, I won't get the turbo acceleration til around 2500-3000RPM. That's whats kind of leading me to believe I have the lag

it should say in your service invoice if progman or ecu was updated and with a version #. if u got the hpfp replaced i'd assume they did ur software too. i know I had pre 29.2 software (non-lag) but I got it anyways feels and sounds better.

Fields BMW refused to update my car even though I gave them the March 2009 SIB. He also told me had a BMWNA rep onsite today and said they cannot give me a software update unless there is an error code on the computer.

The lag fix clearly states that cars produced from 3/06-9/07 will get the update on a complaint basis. Fields Service =

I called Patrick BMW and they said come on in, we'll do the lag fix for you no problem. We'll see if Patrick can take of me...

Thanks for letting me know about Patrick, I appreciate it

from my post in the turbo forum -

___

Alright fellas, I got the fix from Patrick and the car feels fantastic

Anyone in Chicagoland call up Patrick BMW in Schaumburg, they updated my car no questions asked, knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it

No BS like what I got from the other dealers I spoke to.

The response is definitely back to the way it was, the power delivery is much smoother and linear. No more slingshot effect, I feel like I can shift so much smoother from 1st to 2nd, no more surging.

One downside, I do miss the aggressive sound of my exhaust after I got the laggy update - it is whisper quiet now. Oh well, it makes me want to buy an aftermarket exhaust now

Here is a partial scan of the work order

Cheers!

I just got it done two weeks ago and I think that I might have been the first person to have it done, since the SA was a little unsure of it before I left a copy of the TSB.

Less lag, less exhaust note.

My exhaust note is a bit loud, so I would welcome the quieter exhaust

I have an '08 335xi with 11/2007 production date.

I got the car from Motorwerks Barrington yet have an appointment
with Patrick in Schaumburg next week to install the portable Garmin GPS.

Is is recommended to add to my service request to look at the turbo lag issue to see if they will perform the update?

I personally think the car is slow off the line in "D" mode, so I us "DS" quite often , but then it does seem jerky at times. It does not really take off until after 2500 rpm, so not sure what I'm to expect.

If the cutoff for this prob is 09/07 production then I won't bother complaining.

Any input is appreciated.
