what is the standard offset for the oem wheels on a base model 2006 325i? and if I were to upgrade to 17's (non bmw wheel), what offset would I want to go with? everything is stock on my car and i do not plan to lower the car.

OEM offset is ET34.

I know I said 17's in the OP regarding aftermarket wheels, but I'm looking at the csl replicas on velocity's website and they are 18 x 8.5” / +20mm, 40mm. This means they are 40mm offset, yes?

If I put these wheels on all 4 sides (non staggered) would that 40mm offset look appropriate? Won't the back wheels look more concaved in than the oem wheels since these are 40mm offset?

And then lastly, in order to close as much of a fenderwell gap without lowering the car, would I want something like a 225/45/18? Basically a 40 series tire will leave a larger fenderwell gap?

If it says +40mm, yes, it means that the offset is 40mm.

Those look okay in the front, but will need approx 15mm spacers in the rear to not look tucked.

And with 225/45/18 the tire diameter will be larger and the gap smaller.

Since you're local, come by our shop and take a look at the wheels in person!

For a non-staggered setup, 18x8.5 +40 works all around with a 235/40/18. If you're looking to go staggered, then 18x8.5 +40 18x9.5 +33 is a better option. Since you do have a sedan you can fit a 275 in the rear without any modifications.

Can I run a 45 series in the 18 for the rear so I can 'hide' the fenderwell gap a little better, than say a 40 series? Since my car is slow, I probably don't even need the wide 275's. Does the +33 look pretty flush out back, and does the +40 in front look okay too?

I was thinking a 235/45/18 or a 245/45/18 for the rear would be pretty clean and a 225/45/18 up front. I just don't know if a 235 or 245 on a 9.5 rim is too small??

OEM size is 225/40/18 is 245/45/18 is too tall, almost 6 % increase in diameter.
