Unhappy Best Chicago Body Repair Shop

All,

I drive a Silver Grey Metallic 2006 530xi. Unfortunately, it has two minor dents (on the top edge of the trunk) and 2-3 scratches on the rear bumper from a recent minor accident while backing up the car. I am looking for a very good body shop in Chicago to fix it as I am skeptical about the paint. My dealer suggests "Westmont Body Werks", but I saw pretty bad reviews of them on the net. The BMW site says "Patrick BMW" is BMW certified. Any ideas on which one is good?

Thanks

are you downtown chicago or burbs?

if you're close to naperville i highly recommend white eagle auto body, they do great work, its a little more expensive but for what they do you can't go wrong

Do you guys think it's possible for them to match the silver grey metallic paint or is it something only bmw certified repair shops can do?

I wouldn't worry about the paint matching if u take it to the right place. look up guy and sons, it's downtown. my dad has taken 2 different 7 series there and theyve done good work.

Gold Coast Auto Body on Division, unfortunately I've patronized many over the years and Gold Coast is the best in my opinion. Won't be the cheapest, probably like 10% above the competition; but I think they do the best job.

IMO, Patrick BMW is one of the worst. had some body work done there in 2002, will never do it again. A&L auto body in Palatine is absolutely the best, any work they do comes out perfect.

I would say A&L as well for the paint. haven't done any bodywork there besides that.

Thanks for the input guys..I gave it to Guy and Sons to get my repairs done.. I hope they do great.. I was too quick to read the A&L replies. Besides, I searched it and it seems too far for me...

The estimate was cheap (970 for 3 days work and parts ) and they seem to have the experience.. So, my fingers are crossed on this one.. They told me they have to order the paint from BMW, mix it up using a formula that BMW provides and repaint the trunk and the rear bumper. Then they are gonna stick the new 530xi emblem on it. I hope it all fits right.. This is my first paint job in 8 years... I talked to westmont body werks and they gave me an estimate of 1630 for the same..

my mom had some shit done at westmont. she went through the lexus dealership and they told her to go there. i guess their deal is the paint is warrantied for life. what that entails i dont know but "anything warrantied for life" is a good start. she had minor paint work done, nothing crazy

Guy and Sons told the same..that their paint is warrantied for life.. I suppose, if the paint washes away due to rain and snow, they will repaint it for free or something..I dunno.. But I will ask him..

I get all my work done at Metro Auto Body.

They do a great job...

Send me your email, and I'll email pictures of my former Integra Type R that they did all my body work on.

Here's a picture of my old Type R, several years ago. This was actually 6 months after they worked on my car, and of course due to daily driving, the paint was not in tip top shape.

But the bottom line is, they do a pretty good job. They painted my entire car Lamborghini Silver and also did the JDM conversion for me.

The car was awesome, until some douche bag decided to steal it.

Thanks for suggesting "Guy and Sons". They did a fantastic job with the repair and the paint. Also, vaccumed and cleaned the mats for free.. I hope this would be my last visit with them.. but I will definitely suggest them to others..
