Wheel Size Opinion (09' 335ix coupe)

Live in Minnesota and close to buying wheels/tires, have 17's amd OEM run flats and was going to 18's-non run flats, but as most people rather have 19's from looks perspective. Given our roads in this part of the country are 19's just asking for trouble? All opinions appreciated. thanks much

19s look best, but you have to constantly be watching for pot holes. You'd have to do the same with the 18s anyhow so you may as well go with what you like best.

I ran 19's last summer and didn't have any issues. I didn't put them on until early June though, so most of the huge pot hole were filled by then. So you'll be fine with 19's in MN as long as you only run them June through October.

i ran 19s all of last summer with no problems. as far as it being an xi you want to make sure that the tire you go with is the same rolling diamiter as your stock tires, off set doesnt matter though. if you go with a runflat tire you dont have to worry about flats as much, otherwise make sure you have roadside assistiance of some sort (through bmw, your insurance or a company like AAA).

you have to figure you normaly drive to some of the same places, on the same roads day in and day out. you probably already have a good idea where the bad potholes are in you daily commute, the only time you need be extra aware of potholes is when driving on unfimilar routs, which is probably a small percent of the time. my summer wheels will probably be on in the comming weeks.

sorry for spelling errors and punctuation, im postimg this from my phone during a boring ass meeting =P

I didn't carry one 95% of the time since most of my driving is around the cities and I could easily call someone and run home and get one of my winters to put on as a spare. Otherwise on long trips up to the cabin I threw one of my winters in the trunk along with a jack.

I have 18'' wheels with RFTs and ZSP now and I am surprised at how good the ride is - it's actually much better than my previous E90 which had 17'' RFTs and no ZSP!

I think you'll be just fine with 19'' wheels and regular tires. Like another poster said, you will learn where the potholes are pretty quickly!
