Question 18 inches wheels vs 19 inches wheels

Hey,

I'm still hesitating between the 294 18" tyres and the option at 19"

The bigger wheels make the car more sporty, but i heard someone saying that the big wheels aren't good for the car.
According to this guy, they worsen the traction, and use prematurely the axes.

Do you think that he's right?

Personally you would rather go for the 18" or the 19" if you have the choice? (in the case let's say that they are about the same price to be fair in term of choice)

Thanks to share your knowledge and experience

I agree that the 19's look better. I have no idea how or why they would harm the axles.

then whey would they offer them if it was not good for the car?

I had 18's on my 135 and the 17's give a more enjoyable ride - not as harsh and jittery.. but I can still feel the road just fine and decent feedback.

19's look amazing but oh you'll pay for it on the ride. I had the choice of 18's that came with the sport package on my E92 or sport package-only optional 19's. They too looked great but holy mother of mankind was the ride unbearable.

I've been driving with 19' on my current Z4 for a couple of years now and have never felt much difference between 18' and 19'. But the difference between normal tires and run-on-flats that I do feel!!! Run-on-flats are really a pain in the a... I would certainly go for 19' with normal tires, you won't regret it.

I don't think there is an option for regular tyres, apart from run flat ones

He means changing the tires after you get the car. Most probably after your set of run-flats wears out so you don't just throw away good tires.

Or do it like I did last time and now again, straight when ordering the car... Say to your dealer that you would love to buy the car but that you don't want runflats and make a deal that he changes them to normal ones. I'm pretty sure he will do it.

got a question
the standard rim&tire is 17"

if i purchase the 18" or 19", the price on it, is it the 18" or 19" rim+tire itself?
Or is it just the price difference between the 17" and 18or19 rim+tire?

IF the price is for 18" or 19" rim+tire alone, do i get the 17" rim+tire for free right?

It's the supplement you have to pay, so you get 18' or19' instead of the original 17'...
