I don't believe there is any fluid in the axles. It all goes in the Exhaust reservoir.
Differential fluid maybe? Gear fluid? - Transmission. Definately not axles. |

I haven't done that yet. There are lots of good products out there by both Redline and Royal Purple. Both are synthetic and would certainly be good choices. Sorry I can't provide you with more help. I haven't looked at the manual but it may show the capacities as well.

I just did my rear diff two weeks ago. If you get two quarts per diff you'll have enough. However, do you have an oil extractor to get the old fluid out? There is no drain plug on the diffs. You have to suck the oil out, any thing but an oil extractor will take a whole lot of time.
Also, be sure the diff fluid is the correct stuff. BMW only sells it from the 55 gal drum so you have to bring a clean container in if you can find a dealer that will sell it to you. |

When I had all the fluids changed on my '06 330i at Turner Motorsports, they mentioned they changed the diff fluid by sucking it out. It's a sealed unit.

You fill just till it starts to come out of the fill plug.
