weird.....but good!?
I got an estimate from the insurance company (Of the women that hit me) and they said it’s around $3,500 in Damage’s. They came to my house & looked at it for about 45 minutes. So im getting a check in the mail........ I went to a reputable body shop(That people recommend here) & told them to give me an estimate & its only $1500 total and they will replace the rear bumper & paint it & tow hook cover & also replace the impact absorber just to be safe(Because that’s all that’s damaged) The accident was only around 10mph......... Do insurance companies always give you extra money? Should I take it to another shop? Also where are the airbag sensors located in the back bumper? Also by the way the adjuster was really nice & telling me it’s smarter to take the check and then go to a shop. I even told him I found one, he said oh it’s better if you get the check & then go to the body shop instead of us sending our estimate. He also said lets say if its more then $3500 they will write me another check to cover the total cost. I think he was giving me a hint that he is giving me extra money.

anyone else thinking of doing some minor damage to try to get some "extra money"? Lol i could use an extra 2 g's in my pocket....... But is your insurance rate going up too? Probably end up spending that money in a higher premium, but who knows.
Good luck with whatever happens, hope the car returns to "new" condition! |

My wife's Lexus got hit by a truck tire on I-10 and I came out $500 ahead so it was a little profit but no, the companies do not give you "extra" money for the sake of it. If you know a good shop that will do it for less you have all right to keep the extra. They get it back anyways over the years in premiums....

Well for one, you're not at fault and your insurance company is not paying out of their pocket, it's coming out of the woman's insurance. Also just pocket the money because you car depreciated because of that accident ( unless it went unrecorded which i doubt ) Get yourself a set of nice wheels with that
i got rear ended once and only damage was a broken clip on the rear bumper and 2 license plate holes on it. I pocketed an extra 1k. |
