So how much is this hit and run going to cost me? *pics*
The front of my car was hit today in the parking lot while I was at work. No cameras, no witnesses and $1000 deductible if I go through my insurance.
Does the whole bumper need to be replaced? Or can it just be fixed? Any input on the costs of this would be greatly appreciated! EDIT: Not sure if anyone can notice from these pics, but there is an outward bump near the lower left of that crease(its that thing that looks like the size of a bb). Its like the bumper pushed in and something behind the bumper outward embossed the bumper. (

Good body shop can fill and blend that for a few hundred, it's not bad.

Damn, that sucks. Some people are just plain ignorant.
Do you have a paintless dent repair place around you? They should be able to handle that for FAR less than a new bumper is going to cost you. Get an estimate there before you do anything. I'll add in the obligatory "sucks, but now you can get an MTech!" comment too.

I don't think PDR can fix plastic like the bumper, at least that's what I was told on my daughters xA when she shut the garage door on it when it was 5 weeks old. I'd say small amount of filler and blend the paint as long as it isn't faded and such. Sorry to hear this!

Take it to your insurance agent, maybe he will total it and you can buy a new car.

You may be able to heat it up with a hair dryer and 'iron it out'. You would probably have to take the thing off.
I did that with my old 330 rear bumper. Someone did the same thing.

sucks, but since its so small, its not worth it to get it fixed IMO. would need a new bumper and paint, which isn't going to be cheap. unless you're looking for an excuse to go Mtech.

You could always throw a front plate on to cover it up.

It does s***, believe me, I know how the OP feels. I got the same thing and chips on the plastic too. Then last week, the first stone chips that went through the paint to bare metal, about 11 of them. Personally, fixing any of that will only lead to further disappointment as it's bound to happen again.
Not with plastic, but my paint was mint for 28 mos. Pretty nice run. |

Try parking it in the sun for a few hours. The plastic has memory and if heated properly may go back to its original shape. I parked my car in front of a cord of firewood once. One of the pieces of wood was sticking out at the bottom of the cord and put a dent in the lower part of the bumper (air dam). It worked its self out after a few days in the heat of the summer.

Doesn't seem too bad. I do not think you need the bumper replaced.

I think thats the one thing front plates are good for. To protect your front bumper from idiots. I once ram my car into the storage cabinets because the stopping block in my garage came loose, luckily it only damaged the front plates and left everything else untouched.

I got burned on the insurance once for claiming a stupid hit and run. If you do claim it, make sure to have a police report. But don't really. It's not worth the extra money insurance will charge you next year. Plus it might go on your vehicle history.
