Question Do you drive with one hand or both?

Just wanted to see if there's a majority that drives with either one hand or both. Coming from a Lexus, I find it a lot harder to keep the car straight with only one hand. Wondering if it's my old age beginning to show, or just the more hands on steering driving a sporty car requires.

Voted One, but when I do some spirited driving, its just stupid not having both hands on the wheel controlling the car at those speeds.

I don't see the option for "1 knee" up there, so I can't vote here.

^^ exactly!
When im cruising at normal speeds, there is not need to be an uptight 10 and 2 driver, i prefer to be a little more comfortable. But when that peddle gets closer to the floor the other hand comes off the shifter and on to the steering wheel.

Edit! LOL my girl gets freaked out when I steer with my knee.

It might be the lack of a proper armrest, but I often find it more comfortable to have both hands on the wheel. Only other option is to rest my hand on the shifter, but the idrive knob gets pretty uncomfortable after a while.

Having grown up with automatics, I tend to keep both hands on the wheel. But my lazy left hand sits with the thumb hooked over the spoke around 9, while the right takes the normal 2 position. There's an area of smoother leather on the steering wheel in my last car from constant wear in the area of my left thumb. I guess I tend to drive at all times with a slight downward pull with both hands.

Oh, and +1 on the driving with a knee. I totally made a game of it when I was younger. Beyond just keeping the car steady, I wanted to see how well I could make turns in the suburban subdivisions I grew up in.

Go to the BMW CCA Los Angeles Car Control Clinic and driving school at Auto Club Speedway (formerly known as California Speedway) in Fontana - May 30/31. Your hands never belong at 10 and 2. Never.

Hand position is 3 and 9... or slightly lower.

perhaps that's the rationale behind the 3-spoke steering wheel design? With it, your hands fall naturally on top of the two spokes at the 3 and 9 position. (just thinking out loud here)

I was saying that I do not drive at the 10 and 2 position...
But a driving clinic could never hurt either way.. whats the cost of this upcoming event?
