Question question to fellow perfectionists...

ok so last week i brought my car to the dealership to attend to my passenger seat belt issue (read my other post). I also asked for them to see if they can replace the aluminum trim under warranty due to the number of chips on it. (I heard from another member that it's covered) When I got the car back, the trim was replaced and nothing was charged. But I saw that my door panel (the leather-like piece on the door) was slight damaged as they had to pry out the trim. The damage is not big but I can definitely see it and I know it's there. If this was a leased car, I couldn't care less. I also see black marks from the mechanic's hands on some parts of the headliner.

I was wondering what would you do if you were in my situation? Should I ask for the replacement of the panel and clean the headliner?

I would. It's your car and the repair was under warranty. They should not have caused any additional damage in the process (and if they did, it should be fixed).

Make sure you bring it back ASAP before they blame it on you.

Sounds like the technician didn't wear his latex gloves.

I would ask for a replacement of the damaged parts. How long has it been since you picked up the car from the dealership? At some point it becomes difficult putting the blame on them since they could argue that they returned your car in a faultless condition. Next time, check if the car is fine when picking it up.

Unfortunately, even BMW service centers are effected by shoddy work. I just brought my car in for it's annual oil change/wiper blade replacement and for the 2nd year in a row, they installed the wrong size wiper blades. The E92 takes a shorter passenger side blade than the E90. Luckily, this time, I noticed this before I left the service department and they switched for the correct blade. It's such an obvious little detail because the longer blade overhangs the windshield. It does not reinforce the notion that more extensive repairs will be performed to BMW standards.

Sorry if I

+1 but i hear that there are QA review in place at some dealerships (at least the one i brought my car to) to make sure things are fixed...but i dont know what they really do because my car was dirty compared to when i handed over to them, and all these issues i identified on this thread.
