YES we "could" do a "search" first BUT:

Many of us come here for comradeship and a little chat, what do people who have a "do a search 1st" answer have SUCH a problem with, those replys amaze me, in that time they could answer the question.

So flame me for saying this if it makes you feel better.

So make a thread about it.

On a serious note, I do notice there are some very immature members here.

It is true that people just want some interaction thats initiated by them and want to chat. Its fun. some questions are just really dunb though but on the other hand some people just go overboard with the whole thing.

The bottom line is: Clutter.

New posters ask the same questions over and over, and there are myriad answers already on here. It gets to be frustrating to have to filter through the same stuff every single day, just to find something that is interesting or new.

Maybe there should be a separate forum just for newbies to ask questions. On my "other forum" 2+2=4 (it's a poker/gambling forum) there is a section just for newbies to ask questions, with a sticky at the top with all of the FAQ's and links to info.

Something like that would go a LONG way towards keeping the clutter to a minimum, and giving new posters the opportunity to self-educate before joining the masses.

Just my two cents.

Maybe someone should put together a 'FAQ' thread and sticky it. In it would be links to threads on Leather Vs Leatherette, Auto Vs Stick, etc.

First off, I'd like to congratulate you for such a successful Emo Post.

If everyone posts anything and everything on their minds, this forum would get so cluttered with useless threads. Not only that, but if a subject has been covered thoroughly in a thread, it's nice to have that thread pop up in searches instead of 50 different smaller threads, each with a tiny piece of the searcher's answer. If people search, and add to existing threads on an issue, that thread can be useful to someone who searches, and then they only have to refer to one thread for the answers to all their questions.

It's not about flaming people because we have nothing better to do.

Also, in the time it took you to start this thread, you could have just as easily sucked it the F up. No need to post a flamebait thread with no apparent point once you use logic and common sense to answer your question.

There is plenty of comradeship in the Off Topic and Regional (postwhore) subforums, but in the other subforums, it's nice to keep things as neat and useful as possible for those with real concerns and questions.

I agree with you 100%. The people here are nuts about putting in their face.

"Do a search first" "Do another search" "What do you mean you didn't find it the first time?"

lol. least favorite forum...this is probably one of the better ones. i've lurked a few other e9x forums and they're usually not that great.

if people ask you to search, it's usually cause its a common question that has been answered so many times that it's annoying. if your a newb, then you'll get used to it and learn how to find stuff better.

to the OP... flame you for saying this if it makes ME (US) feel better? i think your only posting this to make yourself feel better and to excuse yourself for not searching.

the search does suck sometimes when your looking for something specific, and you know it exists because you saw it before. but you sometimes get a return of like 100 threads which makes it difficult to find. this is understandable, which means you have to make your search words better.

The reason why searches turn up 100 threads is because people WHO DON'T SEARCH keep starting new threads on the subject. Some things are hard to search for, and that just sucks, but a lot of things would be easier to find in a search if someone wasn't starting a new thread about the same subject every couple of days.

What gets me are the people who preface their posts with "I searched, but..." when it's obviously bullshit. That always makes me laugh. Then, right on cue, canuck will pop up with 8 hyperlinks proving the OP to be a liar.

I'm all for searching before you post (really, I am), but if everyone did that there would be little/no discussion here anymore. And that's not fun.
