Gearbox / Transmission light on dash

This is a new light for me. No limp symptoms or anything, just a light on the dash.
I'm running a jb2, a dual cone intake and, spacers in the rear, but I doubt any of these would cause this.
I got home and a few hours later when I went to drive the car, the light was gone. I only saw one other forum member that had a faulty sensor. Has this happened to anyone else?

That's the reduced power light. In yellow it means the engine is running in reduced power mode, red means major engine problem. Nothing to do with the transmission.

If it hasn't come back since, I'd consider it a non-issue. Just be mindful of it, and take it into your dealer (sans mods) if you want it checked out next time. Could be the HPFP.

Yes, check your manual. That's reduced power mode (aka, limp mode).

It's certainly a very common problem. Not sure if it happens to "most" 335s (this is an enthusiast forum, so statistics may be skewed) but a significant number of people have had issues.

From what I've seen, limp mode is quite a bit more common among tuned cars. This is my first time seeing it in my car. I was quite surprised, but now that I know what it is, its not a big deal. I have 30k miles on my car and about 15k of it with a jb2. If the jb2 was part of the culprit, I'm not really worried. Its an 'old-school' tune now. If it was going to cause any problems, it would have already happened to me or somebody else.

rich: The 335 is a great car. I love it! (My wife gets pist sometimes how much I love my car) There are some hick-ups that you may have heard of, but I wouldn't let that discourage you from considering one in the future.

Just a pain old jb2 on 91 pump gas. No hot pill. My car had been sitting in the sun all day and the ambient temp was about 85-90. It happened about 1/2 mile after I started driving. (I always drive in d/s mode)

Mine is in the shop since last Friday. Apparently the computer diagnosed a problem w/ the camshaft, according to what my SA said. I previously had both the HPFP & some leak sensor replaced a few months back. Thus far a week has gone by. We'll see what the final outcome is...late next week.

Got my car back...drives like brand new. I had the camshaft, lifters, bearings and seals replaced... and I don't hear any 'metallic' noises. I asked the SA if the service was done 'out of warranty', what would it cost. Based on his estimate, they calculated about $6000 at the minimum. OUCH! Gotta love peace of mind w/ a warranty. I'm hoping that'll be the last time it needs that part worked on.

In addition, they fixed my driver side window regulator (window would click as it rolled up).

What a relief. Great to hear man. I assume you removed all your mods prior to going in to the SA?

I guess I spoke too soon. Driving in to work this morning... while overpassing some cars, the engine suddenly started to studder and shake. Then the 'Power Loss' indicator popped on AGAIN! ARGH, WTH!
