Took my car to the dealer today.
My brake light came on saying I need new pads, front and rear at 11,000. Which was wrong, i guess its a common problem. Bug in the software? So they reset everything so the light went away but I told them about the wastegate rattle and when I got it back they said it isn't hurting anything and I shouldn't worry about it...What can I do? I don't think a $50,000 car should sound like that so it does bother me. Any advise? THANKS

I had mine fix without a problem, and I did not have the lag issue either since I had my original software which dated back to 06 when I bought the car. First the try to fix the problem with a software update and if that does not fix the problem they replace the actuators. The waste gate rattle does not happen all the time, and it took them some time after the software update to convince themselves the rattle had not gone away.
I can tell you after getting the latest software and waste gate fix my car is definitely more peppy so its worth getting done. One word of caution, and this came from the tech who did my car, BMW tells the techs to change the actuators in place. One can be done without much problem but the other one really requires the turbo to be pulled. However, BMW does not recommends the seals and gaskets to be replaced. This tech said when he followed the BMW instructions the car usually came back later with turbo leaks and blown gaskets. So he pulled both my turbos and did the work and replaced all the gaskets and seals. I can tell you I had not problems since and its been 5 months |

well tell them to fix it either way co'z its not supposed to be that way.
my experience with the dealer down here is when your dealing with the sales guys they are all nice and $hit like that. but when you take the car to service and ask them to fix something they're trying to be a dick about it. not all but most of them are. |
