New 335i or used M3
My lease on my 335i (which I like very much) will be over in less than a year. I will need to decide what I will get to replace the 335i. The idea of leasing another 335i is not that attractive to me because the only color that I would consider with the M Sport package is Le Mans blue which I am really not in love with. In fact, and I have posted this too many time, I'm not in love with any of the standard 3 series colors. Be that as it may, a new 335i will run $50k equipped as I would want it. I was checking out used 08 M3s on autotrader.com and found quite a few LOADED coupes and sedans on the $50-55K range. I would expect even more to be available next spring. So the question is would you not get a lot more bang for the buck buying a used M3 with less than 3k on the odometer. You would get the remainder of the factory warranty, which I understand can be extended. A few negatives that I can think of. Might not be able to find a color combo that I like at the time I need a car. Would probably have to finance the used car rather than lease it which I prefer. Gas mileage will not be anywhere near that of the 335i. If only I could get the M sport a different color, I would throw in a JB+ chip and be totally happy with the performance. But really, anyone not think the used M3 is the better way to go?

Used M3 for sure if I were in your shoes.
Would just take more research and possibly time by finding the right combo.

I really would like to stay with a car that has a useable back seat. I do have an 02 Mountaineer and my wife has an 07 IS 250AWD. BTW, I have been putting a little over 8K miles per year on my car

m3, always prefer something fast out of the box. and knowing how the mod bug hits us all hard, you might end up spending close to m3 price after all the work u put in the 335, so might as well go for the m!

first it starts with the aircleaner .... The m3 will retain its value longer then the 335i. tough decision... if it were me I'd lean towards the M3 ... if gas mileage will never be a concern. ppp

Since you want to finance I'd say go with the M. You get the performance you want without having to risk your warranty in any way. Who cares if it's used, with only 3K on the odometer it's basically new with a huge discount.
I love my 335 but if I were in your shoes I'd get the M Sedan in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision. |

You're comparing a new 335 lease to a used M3 which you would buy. You'll be paying significantly less than $50k if you lease, going that route is far less money out of pocket. Since you prefer leasing (I very much do as well), have you considered leasing a new M3?

i have an 08 m3 with just around 3k on it.
it is still just like the day i picked it up. (even a little bit of the new car smell is there) i would say 3k-5k, the car is almost like new. of course you have to do your research on the car but it sounds like a pretty good deal. new or used it's still an m!!! |

I hate used cars and you that the M3 was probably driven around pretty damn hard. I'd go with the 335i if I was in your shoes. Plus you cannot beat the high you get from that new car smell.

you make me laugh. So you hate any car that is not sitting on a dealer lot? You buy right you can end up with a car that is substantially cheaper and better than your new one.
