Door Ajar Warning?

Kind of a silly question but shouldn't there be a warning light on the dash of my 2009 328 to show that a door or the trunk is not closed? The symbol is listed in the owner's manual but I haven't seen anything light up on my dash. It's not a big deal but I found it handy on my 12 year old Saab 900. Thanks.

I think it only comes on once you get moving? It does sense all doors and the trunk, but fairly sure you have to be moving for the "bong" and dash notification to come on.

Thanks. I'll check when the car is moving. My Saab's warning lights provided the warning before moving which made more sense. But then the ergonomics of the Saab were among the best.

BMW ergonomics aren't always the best.

So at 60 mph I can tell my passenger, "By the way your door is open. Better not lean to the outside"?
