Tint Questions

Going to get 35% tint....now what TYPES of tint are available? I know huper-optik is one of them.....which one should I get? Is the huper optik much more expensive than the regular film?

I have Madico Charcool tint. They are a lot cheaper than Huper Optiks. It depends on what you are going for...

I'm going for the highest quality tint, something that won't bubble or scratch easily, and look the best..

I've done some research as I'm going to get the same tint and for quality I came up finding many people liking HO ceramic tint. It will run about $400 though.

well i'm very satisifed with my tint and it was only 125 dollars. Madico tints are definitely not as high quality as HO tints but they are still very good. The Madico Charcool series rejects a good amount of heat at 35% tint (don't remember the exact percentage). It also doesn't interfere with radio signals. Up to you really. HO is higher quality tho. I haven't had any problems with Madico tint nevertheless.

I have Solargard Tint.... I went with 22%....and I'm happy with it. I've heard good things about Huper, Llumar, Solargard, 3M ....so I would look for those brands.....

i dont know who makes mine, nor the material. I know the % is 5 all around with 50% on the windsheild.
More importantly, I know they come with a lifetime warranty that protects against fading and any other defects as long as theyre on the car.
Id say if you find something with a warranty like that, who cares what its made of... theyre gaurenteed never to fail

I had Llumar tint on my last car for four years without any fading or color change at all, I just sold that car and put more Llumar tint on the new car. I was happy with it.

It never scratched in four years, and was constantly subjected to my coat hangers and fishing poles. If you're in a big city, I wouldn't be too concerned about the effect of metallic tint on radio reception; if you're out in the wilderness you'll probably use satellite radio anyway.

huper optik is much thicker and is harder to apply. even some of the better tint shops will have trouble with the dot matrix.

bubbling and what not depends on the skill of the tint shop, scratches will occur if dust is not collected by the felt surrounding the windows. fading usually doesn't occur if you go to a good tint shop... more so because they use quality material.

there's a bunch of films out there... if you want a specific brand, you might have to find a tint shop that carries it. most shops will only carry a couple of brands that they will vouch for.

I just got the HO ceramic tint on monday at Art Of Tint (props to Tom). He did a great job and I love it. I'm just waiting for it to completely dry which takes a bit more time with the thick HO ceramic film.

If you're looking for the best heat rejection and want ceramic, than HO is the only way to go IMHO. Tom in NYC (29th st. and a brooklyn location) charges $400 for HO all around and 5 or 550 if you get the windshield done. I did 35s all around and the 60 on the windshield. I love the way it looks on my silver car and I'll post some pics if you want.

They are not black. They are slightly silver/metallic looking. I think it depends on the color of your car and what you're looking for as a final product.

Hey, please post some pics. He told me they don't carry 35% in HO anymore?

i like llumar cost me 150bucks couldn't be happier, but i don't understand when you say bubbles or scratches though it all depends on the installer i don't have any bubbles or scratches on mine. I think you have to remember just because its more expensive doesn't mean its the best, paying 400+ for tints doesn't make sense to me personally its not like you live in a dessert where you need block a lot of heat.

true, but the HO optik as far as I can tell has a different color too, it's almost like a metallic silver color, while the traditional tint is just black.

i think the HO would look nice on a silver car.

look around i believe 3M has like a silver color and its only 200bucks...there's a lot of different tint brands that cost half of HO, but its your car and your money so do as you please

How much did the F1s cost you? And where did you go to get it done at?

TIA

I think its capped Huper 40 but its 35% on the sides. I believe the fronts 60-70%. I couldn't be happier. I like the way the color works with the car. Slightly metallic looking. But then again, I am moving to the desert where blocking heat is important.
