Good deal on 2008 335 Coupe

I am looking at a 2008 335 Coupe in SFL. It has 8,488 miles. Premium and Sport packages. 6MT. It is listed at $42,900. What would be a reasonable price to get them down to? All help is appreciated.

Well, not knowing what else is optioned on this car makes it tough to figure the value. In checking w/ KBB the car as you stated shows a retail just over $43K ($43,130).

You might start @ $40K and see where you can go from there. I'm thinking the asking price is pretty close to par ......

Seems high to me too, just bought one last weekend. Show some interest in the car at the dealership, give them your email address, and tell them your shopping around and will think about it. They definitely want your business and will cut you some deals.

Ok, so no BT, NAV or adaptive cruise etc ......... brings the value to $42,580. You're right in starting around $38K and see where you can meet.

If they do 42,900 after taxes that'd be a great deal! (Or is this a tax-free car purchasing period?....I heard if your car is up to $49,500 its tax free)

There is no such a thing as tax free. You pay taxes as usual but taxes are tax deductible when you do your tax return (only for 2009)

In this economy, don't pay over 38K. Check eBay, there are tons of good deals in SFL.

Thanks! Yeah, I don't want to pay more than $38k. I am going to stop in today to see what they are offering. I will keep you guys posted. I would be up for paying $40k out the door. Is that realistic?

Maybe $40-41K OTD since most dealers won't knock more than $1500 off on a CPO ....... if you get the extended warranty or tire/wheel insurance then the $40K is shot.

Makes sense...thanks!

Then to the OP, I think 38-39k would be appropriate offers to negotiate with.

I'd go $37,500 then ........ if they want the entire asking price then maybe you could offer the asking price with the extended warranty or tire/wheel insurance included.

Be imaginative with getting as much as you can with the offers ....

Thanks for your help ToadHollow. I think $37.5 is a fair price. LOL. On a CPO, isn't the extended warranty included or are you talking about an additional warranty to the CPO warranty?

Anytime man.
Typically, the dealer will offer an extended warranty to a "new" car so I'm unsure as to what the CPO warranty consists of. Haven't purchased CPO before. Tire/wheel insurance would be something to think about though.

Friend of mine just got the priced lowered for 6K for a CPO. These days (bad economy) dealers are selling below invoice so CPO cars are no exemption.

CPO basically adds 2 years to the 4 year warranty, plus deductibles and a few exceptions. You could look into getting BMW's extended maintenance plan thrown in, which is all brake pads/rotors, fluids, scheduled Inspections, wiper blades -- everything.
