2009 335i Fuel Pump Failure

Just like the title says, I just wanted everyone to know that the HPFP problem is not fixed on the 2009 LCI's. I just had my car in for service (13k oil change) and told them I had long cranks in the morning... sure enough, low fuel pressure codes were present so they changed it out. BMW HPFP = EPIC FAIL!!!

dammit. I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with it again. I think the 120,000 mile warranty letter will be coming in the mail soon

Replacing with what?

Are they replacing the pump with another non-BMW pump? Or is it the same pump?

I'm looking to get a 09 335 and I've noticed that this model have the pump failure issue. I was thinking of bringing this up with the dealer and asking them to replace the pump before it fails.

hey dude, how long were your cranks? I complained of slightly longer cranks, and when they checked it out, they said there was a "low pressure fault" thrown, but the HPFP was working fine, and they didn't do SQUAT! Do you have the Invoice for your work dude?

As far as I know they just replaced it with the same piece of crap that was in there from the factory... my car should have come with the "new and improved" one already! I have a 9/2008 build....

Yea, the long cranks only happened when the car was sitting over night and it would take the car a slow 3 count to start, maybe 4-5 secs. The invoice shows "13459 fault code DME 2FBF... Diagcoded:1350_00000000_02_001", which is the code for faulty high PSI Pump...

Good thing a formal letter from BMW was sent out on extending the HPFP warranty.

We can't change it unless it fails (or if another recall comes out). That's like asking us to change all the light bulbs because they will blow at some point.

I would NEVER clear fuel pump codes!!! That's your proof that you need a new pump... otherwise, they have to keep your car and reproduce the problem (long crank)...

I don't know about a formal letter, but my SA told me that my car's pump was covered above and beyond the normal warranty of the car.

I can't believe they've done this!

Where are you in the US and what is the ethanol content in the fuel?

Yup, I got my letter on Friday. It only calls out MY2007 and 2008 vehicles equipped with 3.0L engine. Not trying to scare you, I just wander if BMW thought it was fixed with the 09's.

That pisses me off. I dont understand why they dont handle this. These N54 cars are proving to be UNRELIABLE. Its things like this that make people stay away from BMW as it is.

The Oren-Ishii avatar rocks btw!!!

Blah! You know what I mean... I just made a small typo: 3K or 3,000 Miles. I just put both of them together.
