My turn for Traffic Accident...

Guess it is my turn for a accident. The girl in front of me decided to make a last minute left turn at the intersection, and I reacted a bit slow since she didn't have her turning signal on and managed to hit her back bumper. Good thing that we just started to move from pervious red light, so I was moving pretty slowly. The damage wasn't too bad, just some fine scratches which I can polish out easily and some minor deformation which can barely be seen from certain angels. But the back bumper from her old Volvo did manage to two screw-size holes on my front bumper.

She didn't want to go through insurance, so I only asked for her driver license and phone number and wrote down everything on it. Didn't want to be seem like a jack ass right away, so I said I will contact her later on this.

I am thinking about fixing this myself. Fill the hole with body filler, and just use touch-up paint and then sand/polish the area. Or should I bring it to a body shop and get an estimate from them. Suck that I put on the aero lip only two days ago...

The second picture shows the distortion in the reflected image of my shoe from the deformation on the bumper. Don't worry about the lines in the brown circles on the 3rd picture, these are just wax residue from my lousy detail a week ago.

I drew red arrows pointing out the holes left on the bumper, and the yellow arrow shows the deformation on the bumper. Guess this isn't worth fixing then?

I'm kinda with TiAg335i.. those holes seem more like little tiny bird droppings more than anything else. If its truly bugging you that your car is imperfect, no matter how minuscule, then by all means spend a couple hundred bucks fixing it, but I wouldnt. Besides, its your fault that you hit her (im not saying that meanly, its true) because you are the one who rear ended her. Its always the responsibility of the driver behind to keep a safe distance from the car in front.

Yea, I am with you for that it was mostly my fault and I was lucky that I wasn't going any faster. I guess I will just fix this up myself and stop being so OCD with my car.

it's bound to happen dude, from the damage that I see it's not worth getting a new bumper and having it repainted, get a good detailer and have him buff it out.....done.

on a second thought, I might as well get my aero lip and reflector molded to bumper and fix these two holes along the way. How much would this cost me?

those are holes? or just circle-like scrapes?...it def looks like rock chips. maybe you can fix that with proper touch up paint? and that rubbing looks like it can be buffed out. i dont see any deformation tho...prob too small to notice

also to be honest, i don't think you got those scratches from the accident. they look more like scratches you would get from a rag or something.

assuming you just tapped her bumper and didn't rub against it

nah, I only wash my car with MF towel and use grit guard all the time. Those must be from the chrome trims around her volvo's bumper since it wasn't there when I cleaned my car two days ago.
