Do you need to be 21 to get a loaner?

I am under 21 and I am signed up to get a loaner on Monday from our local dealership. Will my age be an issue?

your age shouldn't be an issue, unless your insurance isn't transferable to a rental. I am 20, I have my own insurance (under my name, not under my family) and was transferable, therefore, I got a BMW rental.

At my dealer you have to be 21 as well regardless of if you have your own insurance or not

In texas, yes. Most likely, the answer will be yes. OP - why did you make a thread about this? Why couldn't you just call the dealer?

it's 21 in some states 25 in others and can vary from dealer to dealer. mine will give me a bmw loaner if they have them or give me a rental car and i'm 20. if it's a rental there usually some extra paper work in evolved.

The legal age to rent a car is 25 in MA regardless of insurance status, driving record, or anything like that. Whether dealers choose to follow that is their choice I guess.

here in quebec i belive you have to be 21 to rent a car, however some dealers still give you a loaner even if youre underage. the only thing you have to note is that you often wont be covered by the loaner car's insurance which means any damages to the car will be pegged onto your insurance.

Useless thread. Could have called the dealer in about 15 seconds and got the answer. All replies were from different states with varying laws anyway.

It's either 21 or 25 depending on the state.
