Graduation gift idea(s) please

My brother is graduating from Davis in a few weeks so I wanna buy him something. My budget is about $300. I need to order within the next few days to insure it gets here on time.

I was gonna get him the Kindle 2 from Amazon but my mom doesn't think it's worth it. I was also going to get him a Proscan tv from costco but the f*cker went and bought a Sony LCD last weekend. So now I'm turning to you guys for ideas.

Thanks in advance guys!

Get him a really nice pen. I still use the one I got for graduation years ago, and it's the only pen I use in my office.

If I can't come up with anything I will resort to that. I just don't really like giving money because it's a little impersonal. To me it's like giving someone a gift card at Xmas. You're basically saying "I don't know what you like and I don't care so here's a gift card."

This is true. Get him some nice sunglasses and / or shoes or something.

I prefer the Parker Pens. Waterford makes a nice pen as well.

I have a Duofold ballpoint.

Some ideas include a good electric shaver:

If he's a runner, a good runners watch might be nice:

http://dvice.com/archives/2008/04/day_one_review.php

It's a little on the high priced end, but a PS3 is also to be considered if he doesn't already have one. Along the same vein, iPods could be considered as well.

Something like this with an appropriate congratulatory engraving would be nice:

A GPS unit or radar detector could also be nice if he has a car.

That's enough for now I think, good luck, there's a lot to be had for $300.00.

Cool thank you! I'll look into that. I'll try and gauge to see if he would enjoy it.

I considered purchasing a PS3 for him since the blu-ray player is already $250+. But then again we already have a PS3 (in my room though). You're right that there are a lot of things that can be bought for $300 but I want to get something nice/meaningful. I was thinking maybe 2 year paid membership to a local gym?? lol

Excellent idea. Considered something engraved as well, like the money clip I posted, or a better one.

Yeah I looked up the Tiffany link you posted but I don't think he will use the money clip. Thanks for the idea though!

A pen. I use Parker and love it. A gift that looks nice, has nice style and very useful for a long time. What else you need?
