wastegate rattle post 1/08 build

anyone have significant rattle with post 1/08 production? i installed catless dp's and have rattle while accelerating. i assume this is wategate rattle made more obvious by lack of dp's...unless i installed the AR dp's incorrctly but fitment seems good. anyone else have this problem with a post 1/08 build?

Rattle while accelerating? That is not likely to be the wastegate actuators, and if it is, then I suggest you get them looked at and adjusted/replaced.

It rattles both accel and decel.

To hear it accel:
Drive 35 mph.
Put it in 6th.
Apply throttle moderately, about 75%.

To hear it decel:
Drive 35-40 mph
Put it in 3rd.
start to let off the gas so the car begins to engine-brake.

well guys i'm not convinced i have wastegate rattle. i only hear the metalic rattle when accelerating. i tried the decel. test mentioned above and could not hear it. also it doesn't go away after the car is warmed up. i will try to post some audio. any thoughts? the dp's aren't touching but they are close. the shorter dp is touching that heat shield thingy. i may have to have someone like AMS look at it. thanks for any advice.

thank you. mine sounds a little more metallic than that and ONLY during acceleration. no noise at all during freeway driving without acceleration. any thoughts would be appreciated.

It may seem that the rattle is cause by the after market DPs. Check the DP to see if it is rubbing anywhere, or needs to be adjusted. Was it making a noise before the DP?

i am worried it might be an install problem but why only while accelerating and only when in gear and on the move? could it still be wastegates? there was no noise before the dp install.
thanks

Check out this link: http://www.bmwtis.com/tsb/bulletins/...p/B111307g.htm

I think it describes the sound you are hearing here: "Complaints received regarding a slight rattle from this area under steady acceleration in the 2,000 RPM to 4,000 RPM range are due to the rotating waste gate valve face; this is a characteristic of the mechanical waste gate. The rotating waste gate valve face is necessary to ensure proper sealing. This slight rattle noise is considered normal operation of the mechanical waste gate valve. No repair should be attempted for this type of rattling complaint."

I notice the same thing with my car, but according to this it's normal.

Under acceleration your engine loads in the direction that can cause interference around the downpipes. Get some bright light under there and look where it's rubbing.
