Tires Rims Potholes in NYC

Ok so I am close to pulling the trigger on purchasing rims and tires but I am a little nervous in regards to rim size. 19's by far look the best but I live in QUeens and drive in the city all the time. To all the E9X's how often do you get flats and how often do your rims bend? HOw hard are large does the bump have to be to have any of these to happen? Also how often have rims cracked?
Am I better off with just getting 18's?

Ive driven in Manhattan 3 times, Queens nearly every day and brooklyn once in a while...and long island every day. Im slammed on 20's and have been fine so far...

I DO recommend buying strong wheels tho...alot of cast wheels are pretty damn strong. You dont need to buy a forged wheel to be strong but most of them do look sicker.

I live in Queens also and I got 19" iforged wheels. I hit a nasty pothole on the belt pkwy coming from LI into queens, under that double tunnel. With that said, its the only incident I've had since I put on the wheels on. No matter what wheels you get, you have to worry about NY roads. When you get new wheels, you tend to adapt a more aware driving style.. dipping n dodging! Don't worry though man, you get use to it, and its not bad at all. G'luck!

I used to go into the city all the time with my 335. Never had an issue. I also used it to beat the tolls heading out to NJ to see my girl. Id rather look good goin slow than smellin the fumes sittin on the crouss bronx.

+1!

Dude.. I've had so many pot hole disasters.. just got my wheels fixed.. due to a recent crack (how? i don't know.. a pot hole) The amount of money I've spent on new tires is just crazy.. that's why Ive been so behind on mods lol. I probably could have upgraded if I saved all that money.

I hear how the city wont refund your tire replacement until they hear of 15 incidents reported for the same location... smh

I want to pull the trigger and do 19s (and probably will).. it's not a priority right now, but when I do, i hope to do 19x8.5/9 F x 19x9.5/10 R with 245/35/19 and 275/30. I think that's a pretty cool set up @most and avoid wheels with lips unless u know they are made from good strong quality. They are a b*tch to fix once cracked or bent.

The slower, the better... fast only if you know the road... then again.. this city's roads are breaking a part..

If you drive in NYC on a regular basis with 45 aspect (or lower)tires, expect to have your turn in bending or cracking a rim. I am extremely careful but when it rains and you are driving at night, the pothole gremlin will get you.

Got nailed a month ago and bent two left side rims.
