Question Zenon headlights- How long have they lasted?

I would like to know from those members who have zenon headlights( should be all) as to how long have they lasted you.

One of my headlights went out and still under warranty, but when I have no more warranty what will it cost to fix?
Just curious.

The cost to repair is going to depend on what's wrong. Bulb? Igniter? Module?

Potential tip for the future: I've heard they last longer if they have fewer quick on-off cycles. I keep my switch in the off position in my garage, else they turn on and off when I pull out and in during the day for a few seconds at most.

Else, I'd say at least 10 years for the bulb/ballast.

i have been told that if you turn on your xenon, leave it on for at least a min or 2 before you turn it off.. turning it on and off quickly or too soon before it warms up a bit will significantly decrease the life of your xenon bulb.

With everything being said, if your headlight is broken, it is most likely the bulb that goes out, which shouldnt cost you. It is the whole ballast/set that will cost you thousands.

It cost me to replace my IS300 xenon at $1500 EACH ($3000 for the pair) when my car HID got vandalized/stolen. I would imagine the one on the BMW would cost just the same if not more.

piece of advice (bad advice), you may as well break your own headlight and claim vandalism if your entire housing goes bad naturally in say, 10 years? (although it shouldnt)
