Help, going to NYC!!!... need good suggestions on shops/food/attractions?

Hey as the title says, i will be in nyc for 4 days days next weekend, i've been to nyc before, but it was very brief, and didnt do much, but a bit of a shopping and woodbury.

Just curious... I will be staying in soho.. and good suggestions for food/shopping in this area?

I don't mind taking the subway, all around town... or cab... I know 5th ave is good, for shopping, but any specific stores I should hit up?

My price range will range... i know that is a big factor, I would love to go to stores that we don't have in canada...

As for food, I eat almost anything! Price range for food I want to stay in the mid-range as I rather spend most of my money on shopping / attractions.

Hit up chicken and rice on the corner of 53rd and 6th, across from the Hilton Hotel. A definite must for any visitor or anyone local, delicious food. I work 2 blocks from there so I'm kind of tired it now but really tasty food.

Oh and don't forget to add the white sauce over it. Damn, all this talk about chicken and rice is making me want to walk two blocks down..

if you're staying in soho, you're already in a "happening" area. just explore w. broadway. otherwise you can or taxi to east village and down a bit to L.E.S (lower east side). L.E.S is becoming such a fun place. it has so many restaurants and bars.

Chicken and Rice lol. I cant believe how popular that place got. Be verrryy careful with the red sauce, if it wasnt so small it should have come with a warning label.

yeah Soho's already good for shopping, eating, people watching etc. The LES is more fun but edgier. The Village is quaint and fun. Downtown is dead after dark and all weekend. Midtown is $$$$ and not that cool to hang out in unless you're hitting up designer stores on 5th ave or the department stores.

My recommendations for great casual food at a good price:

1) Lederhosen German restaurant/bar at 39 Grove St. in the Village. lederhosennyc.com It's a BMW forum so I may I assume you'll love this German place as much as me? If you like German food/beer then it's one of the best. I always take my best friends here when they visit and they always want to go again the next trip up. Owned, run, and staffed by ze coolest in Germans in NYC.

2) Dinosaur BBQ at W 125th St. (1 train) Reservation sometimes needed even though it isn't too expensive. Fantastic BBQ and beers.

3) Shake Shack for the best burger I've ever had (the original is in the E 20's? but the new one is at 77th in the Upper West Side). Take the 1 to 82nd for that loc.

Have fun!

"Hit up chicken and rice on the corner of 53rd and 6th,"

definitely try it after a long night of drinking or clubbing in the city

You guys are serious about the chicken and rice arent you?? lol

I guess it's a must try.

1) Lederhosen German restaurant/bar at 39 Grove St. in the Village.
2) Dinosaur BBQ at W 125th St.
3) Shake Shack West Side

anything particular at these places that i should try? or is generally the whole menu good..?

what's the best way to get broadway tickets, at times square? i hear if you go on the day of the tickets are a lot cheaper

so... what about shopping? i know there are many good spots for this... looking for the following

dress shoes / casual shoes
messanger bags
tie clip
money clip
some summer wear casual
good fitted polo's
sunglasses
the list goes on :P

1) Der zwei wurste lederhosen art
2) anything and everything
3) shack burger FTW

for your broadway tickets. TKTS in times square is the way to go but you will be in line for a while in the most ridiculous part of the whole city. i avoid that place like the plague. now, if u want a good view and a $15 drink go to the View restaurant at the top of the Marriott in Times Square. it rotates slowly and is kind of a gem.

it sounds like you could get a lot of shopping done in one trip to Bloomingdale's (East 50's). honestly Soho is more fun albeit crowded as hell on the weekends.
