Help, changing rims this morning

I have 18x8.5 / 18x9.5 with 41 ET on all four. I thought it would fit but when I went to the tire shop yesterday, the man put just the rims on the front and rear to check for fitament and he said it would be a VERY tight fit and would not recc'md putting on the tires. He said without the tires there was less than the space of his fingers from the wheel to the column. He said that with tires it would be right up against the column. It may rub on the column. I will be using the stock tires 225 fronts / 255 rears.

From reading the treads, it should fit. Was he being too conservative? Should I just go back and have him install it?

hmm, those numbers should fit just fine.. I'm curious as to what he means by columns ? does he mean the shock absorbers ? PS. a 255 tire isnt rreally any bit wider then a 9.5" wide wheel.

I personally think that wheel guy doesnt know what he is talking about

keep us updated on what happens !

Yes, I think it's the shock column. It's the column attached to the wheel and brakes.

Thanks, I'm going to have it installed anyways.

I installed the rims and they fit fine!! Once the car was lowered with the tires, there was plenty of room. Almost an ince to the column. Thanks for your help!
