Question 335i or 325i ??????? Can't decide HELP!!!!!

Will the time has arrive. The dealer is going to tell me the montly payment for the 335i on Monday. I am guessing it will be somewhere around $700 with $5,000 downpayment. Also the insurance will be alot to me since I am only 18 . I also have part time job at Fry's which I make about $500 a month since I only work 14 hours a week. I am thinking of getting 325i since the fuel economy is good and also the montly payment will be only 370. The guy will give me this deal on 325i since they end the production by the end of this year for the 328i. If I get the 325i, I will be getting stickshift and Jetblack with no option. Please let me know since I can't really decide. I really prefer the 335i over the 325i anyday but I have financial trouble and my parent have like 70k debt on credit card because of the damn stock and I will be going to college in the future which will cost me alot of bills:mad:

two words for you, my friend.

Honda. Civic.

If you don't make much, and you're about to increase bills and decrease work... buying a BMW is kind of... dumb?

This seems like one of those cases where the 325i would just be the better decision. The 335i would simply not be a smart move (seeing as it will exceed the amount of money you make a month ... even though you are only working 14 hours a week). If there is any time where you need extra money and you are hooked on the 335i, you will very likely have to lose the car. 325i > 335i for a while, but then you have to leg it for a while.

Just play it safe. If there EVER money problems, you should go the most economical route.

Personally, if my parents were in debt, I would just pick up a used fuel-efficient car (like a cheap honda... I know, it sucks) and use the extra money I would have spent on the BMW to help my parents get out of the hole. After they get fixed, then I could spend money on nicer things for myself.

I honestly don't mean to mess with you here but it's pretty obvious that you can't afford either of these vehicles. No one with financial trouble should be driving a late model BMW. Save your money, finish school, and eventually when you can comfortably afford it, get the bimmer. I know what it's like to lust after a car but trust me it's not worth getting into financial trouble over. What seems important now might seem like a huge mistake to you years later.

that leaves 60% of a 700 payment ($420/mo leaving $80/mo in your pocket)

you make 500 bucks a month and think that the remaining 80 bucks after your parents help you out will buy gas, insurance, any money you'd like to spend on things..............

you can't afford either car on 500 a month

save your money, work hard in college, then if you get a good job you'll be able to afford nice cars

I don't even think you are qualified for the loans since the lenders know you won't able to pay it off. Sorry to tell you that.

your parents are 70k in debt and you're OK with asking them to do this for you? you know that's not right...don't take advantage of your parent's generosity.

Im sure his parents will be the ones buying it in their name because he wouldnt quailify on his own.
If your parents are so in debt, why would they want to get more in debt by buying you this car, it just doesnt make any sense.

Well Thanks for the reply. I think I will just go with cheap car or something. Anyway right now my parent have Lexus RX 330 and Ford F150 and they really like since we use to own 94 5 series. So they are really thinking of getting Bimmers since the SUV and truck really waste gas and I need car by the end of this year since I am off to college. They are also thinking of trading the F150 or RX 330 for the 3 series and also getting cheap toyota which makes it 3.

f150 sounds like it's got your name on it. the added gas expense of that truck will never surpass the added cost of a bmw.

First, I see someone making $8 / hour driving a 330i, and now I see someone making $500 / month looking to buy a 335i.

Money grows on trees these days???

Dude...I understand that you are young and may not fully understand the impact of such financial hardships that 70k in cc debt can mean to your family.

Getting a 30k car on your $500/month income (that will likely no longer exist once you go onto college) is definitely not the smartest idea.

I hope you learn to make more realistic financial decisions while you are in college.

Well most of my friend make fun of me since I am driving like F150 and Lexus RX330. Most of them said those kind of car are for cowboys and woman who are afraid to drive. I really dont fit in with my friend when it comes to car since most of them are driving Mod Evo,RSX,Subaru,Nissan Z and G35,,Lexus SC 400 IS 350 & 300,Ford Mustange and the list goes on. Most of the car in the parking lot of my school is filled with sports car and I am like the only one driving SUV to school along with the gurlz
That's why I want to get a sports car or atleast a sedan so my friend would shut up and . I know this is dumb for me because of my family money issue and my income but most likely my parents will get back to like 20k since they will be selling their stock in the future since their company will have big annoucement around this november which will help increase the stock.

Really true, I will get bored of the car in like 3 month or so and I would keep regretting of getting 335i instead of the 325i but hey I cant always want what I want. I have to go with the flow. I might just go with some cheap car like Corolla or Scion and when I finish college I would just reward myself with M5 or M3 who knows maybe there will be 3series hybrid by 2011 or even the 1series. I am also thinking of getting a mini cooper at this moment since my mom really think is a cute car and is pretty good looking car with good fuel economy.

You call these guys, who make fun of what other people drive, "friends"? Time to ditch these a$$holes and make some real friends.

Throughout my college and dental school, I used public transportation. I had no problem finding "real friends".
